“It is the attention to detail which makes a man elegant.”Don Eugenio Marinella
PAST HISTORYNapoli, Riviera di Chiaia, 287: the small shop was opened in 1914 by Don Eugenio Marinella and can still be found at the same address even today. A great admirer and inspired by the elegant English style, he had the idea of importing manufactured goods like accessories and perfumes from England, which at that time were the latest mode, in order to propose them, not only to his discerning Neapolitan clientele, but also to his international customers. The small shop soon became famous and well known as “the place to go to”, for elegant men’s wear. The business was then taken over by his successor, his son Luigi, who using his entrepreneurial flair, increased their own production of ties, by opening an artisan laboratory. 4

THE TRADITION OF TODAYThe innovative spirit of the past has become the tradition of today and this has been continued by Maurizio, a member of the third Marinella generation. Traditional family values over time are linked to the classical elegance of the Neapolitan school, together with manual skills and the style of “delightful to look at and well made”. These are the secrets of the success of Marinella today, the values of the brand which have never been compromised over the years, even though the tie has become an important stylish accessory and there is a growing demands for this simple adornment. The “Marinella” tie however, embodies “the par excellence” of an elegant man and a discerning clientele, which is mindful of style with an eye for detail.

THE TIECareful selection of primary materials, wide range of colours and patterns, quality control and selected distribution are guarantees of the brand. The production is carried out only and exclusively in the laboratory of Naples, where local specialized tailors, who “have those singular professional skills” handed down to novice tailors. Drawing on the Neapolitan tailoring tradition, E. Marinella has become a world famous laboratory as far as made to measure ties are concerned, bringing back manufacturing techniques of the past and creating models of tie knots with five, seven and nine folds. 10
