    MARKS MUSINGS

By now most of you know that I will be leaving this month tobegin a new part of my journey at St. Mark's, Westhampton Beach,NY. My decision to follow this call was made easy by the opportu-nity for ministry up there, but difficult because it meant that I wouldbe leaving all of you.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for raising meup as a priest. I give thanks to your patience as I grew and

developed as a preacher. I give you thanks for your willingness to goon adventures with me to the Dominican Republic, NewOrleans and Alabama. I give you thanks for supporting myministry at St. Andrew's On-the-Sound, particularly the ministry for

youth. I give thanks to all to the staff for their support, advice andfriendship.

Often times, in periods of transition, people have a tendency to

withdraw from the community. I would encourage you to fight thaturge and jump headfirst into the ministry of the church. The Bodyof Christ is made up of many parts. If that body was missing anarm, the other would not stop working but it would become strongerand carry the load. I encourage you to become stronger and carrythe load. As we move on I will hold you all in my prayers as you gothrough this period of transition.

    Blessings,Mark Powell

Now that the weather has warmed up our grounds arelooking good. Several trees have been removed and allour trees have been trimmed. Our landscaper has com-pleted spring plant pruning. Cemetery masonry andthe iron gate latch have been repaired. The white brick

wall was power washed and repainted days before theEaster egg hunt. A bakers dozen lilies from the churchaltar were planted in the columbarium the week afterEaster. Incidentally only two burial spaces remainavailable in that original facility. Finally, the annualchurch grounds spring cleaning is scheduled for May12. It would sure be nice if the cemetery committee

showed up to do some wedding and spruce-up as well.
