Newsletter 4 Corners Events May 2011
Come May, 2011, 4 Corners Events successfully completed its first year of operation. It has been a journey of a nascent child being looked after by well-experienced parents, an experience that was gained through years of dealing in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
During this one year, 4 Corners Events has been on a rollercoaster of touching new heights in the field of tourism and events management. From arranging leisure and business tours for tourists from Far East and Asia, managing a loud corporate event for RAKBANK, adding new members to its family, and successfully launching its website, 4 Corners Events has now been aiming to explore and capture new markets in Europe.
From a bud, we have grown into full bloom with trustworthy connections with tourist locations, hotels, travel agents and other personnel in the tourism industry.
Just recently at the Arabian Travel Market, commonly known as ATM, the 4 Corners Events team met a lot of concerned persons related to hotels, airlines, representatives from different Arab countries and a lot of other tourism experts in order to establish cordial business relations and spread a word of awareness about our services. The ATM was held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai 2 - 5 May 2011.
Our future endeavors include visiting IMEX 2011 in Germany where we are representing our company at our exclusive booth numbered as F692. Through this visit, we also plan to strengthen connections with our German representatives and discuss a lot of future opportunities. Not to forget, we already hosted a FAM Trip from UK, which was a huge success and the guests enjoyed the colors of UAE.
4 Corners Events is now running a successful Facebook page, tweeting often on Twitter, connecting to professionals on LinkedIn, publishing its stories on Scribd, and YouTube-ing its videos.

DUBAI: Art, and the galleries it was housed in, used to be reserved for the super-elite members of society. However, a stalwart service has changed this perception, literally providing a way for all to access art, culture and history across the UAE.
The ArtBus operates
ArtBus takes people on unique cultural journey Vehicle provides transportation to exhibitions
numerous gallery visits along with the stop to the fair and museum. The cost is minimal at Dh50 —and you don’t have to worry about navigating and parking. A lot of thought has been put into the stops and picking of a variety of galleries that would appeal to people of all ages.
Dubai really is "what money would look like if it were left to its own devices". It's a strange place, a giant example of what money can buy.
Dubai is a fascinating place in its own bizarre way. It's not a "destination" destination, but it's certainly worth a stop and a look around on your way to wherever it is you're really going. This is a city obsessed with having the biggest and
Why Dubai is worth a visit! most expensive of everything, and that alone is worth checking out.
The Burj Khalifa is, naturally, the tallest building in the world. Head up to the 124th floor for a look around, it's amazing. The emirate's shopping malls are like miniature cities in themselves. At the Mall of the Emirates you can go skiing, if that's the sort of thing you feel like doing when it's 45 degrees
outside.
There the desert soars out to the horizon, giant sand dunes rolled out like a yellow blanket with toys swept underneath it. It's stark, lonely, and far more beautiful than any shopping mall or high-rise hotel.
The way Dubai's going, though, you better get there while you still can.
“It's not a "destination" destination, but it's certainly worth a stop…”

DUBAI: Three Arab countries — the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain — are ranked among the top 30 countries for harnessing information communication and technology (ICT) to transform society, according to a new report.
The UAE ranked 24th out of 138 countries, Qatar placed 25th while Bahrain was 30th
UAE leads Arab nations among top-30 ICT users in the 2010-11 Global Information Technology Report Transformations 2.0.
Globally, the top five were Sweden, Singapore, Finland, Switzerland and the US. The report is released annually by the Insead international business school and the World Economic Forum.
During the past decade, the UAE has taken bold initiatives in developing its ICT infrastructure as well as many services — especially e-government. Placing great emphasis on technological will increase local buy-in, especially from business, for this ICT-lead policy, moving from e-readiness to higher levels of usage is now a major challenge for the

On the Historical Axis: Dhow of Arabia
For many centuries, boats that sailed on the Indian Ocean were called dhows. While there were many different types of dhows, almost all of them used a triangular or lateen sail arrangement. This made them markedly different than the ships that evolved on the Mediterranean. These ships had a characteristic square sail. The dhow was also markedly different than the ships that sailed on the China Sea. These ships were known as junks.
The dhow was known for two distinctive features. First of all, it's triangular or lateen sail, and secondly, for its stitched construction. Stitched boats were made by sewing the hull boards together with fibers, cords or thongs.
Though earlier the Dhows were used to make commercial journeys between the
Persian Gulf and the East Africa with dates and fish as their cargo, they are now
usually used by the tourists to sail along the creek and see the wonders of the
Gulf.
