The idea for an E-Book was first explored through the Gutenberg Project lead by Michael S. Heart in 1971.

The development of the Internet in the 1990’s allowed for the creation of many online E-Book sources.

In 2006 Sony came out with a handheld personal E-book reader, and Amazon.com countered in 2007 with today’s top selling E-reader, the Kindle.

Amazon.com reported that for the first time in 2010, E-Book sales were greater than hard cover sales.

The Purpose of E-Readers E-Readers allow people to keep a collection of E-Books on a lightweight portable device.

In today’s fast paced culture in the United State’s, E-readers are becoming more popular because of their ability consolidate the owners preferred readings into a device that is compatible with the business of everyday life.

Some of the advantages of using an E-Reader are the availability of books, portability and storage, language accessibility, cost, and security.

People who oppose the use of E-Readers site drawbacks like power and shelf life, durability, and digital rights management.
