Unfortunately, the recent mplementation of EAA’s Youth Protection Policy has many estioning their participation and that there are some volunteers ho would like to see the entire policy scrapped. Due to the litically correct and litigious world we now live in, the Youth otection Policy is here to stay. EAA is committed to doing all can to keep kids safe and protect us, the Young Eagles pilots d volunteers. here was a major concern voiced about releasing your social curity number, and EAA worked with their vendor to make at optional . They also worked with that same vendor to clarify e language describing the criminal background check to better mmunicate that EAA is NOT looking for financial informa- n. riginally EAA felt it would be easiest if there was a single, mprehensive policy that covered all of the things EAA and AA volunteers do with youth. This approach led to confusion, people have tried to understand the impact in areas where ey are involved. That often resulted in assumptions that were t intended. An example is the confusion about flying Young agles in a four-place aircraft. People came away with an under- anding that you would need a second adult in that aircraft to mply with two-deep leadership. This is not the case and was ver the intention, but within the comprehensive policy it could misinterpreted. AA will be revising and splitting the policy to create documen- ion that is cleaner, easier to understand, and less burden- me. There will be a policy that covers ongoing youth activities chapters, a policy specific to Young Eagles flights and rallies, d a third policy that is specific to EAA youth activities at rVenture. Our next scheduled work party will be coming up the first weekend in March. The Weeks hangar crew is

still desperate for our help!! The B-17, B-25, and Ford Tri-Motor still need work, and many other projects are on

going. As last time, most volunteers will depart for OSH on Thursday (3rd) and some on Friday (4th). We will

work Friday & Saturday with Sunday a free day to explore EAA, Oshkosh, and/or head home.

EAA’s Hops & Props premier beer-tasting event is back for the 12th year in a row and is being held at the

AirVenture Museum that Saturday evening 7-10 p.m.! Wet your whistle with some of the finest beers in the

world as you enjoy delicious food and live music that will keep you on your feet all night long. Spend an eveningsampling more than 300 extraordinary beverages from around the world while the master brewers you love are on

hand to answer any and all questions you have about their craft. For those that are interested: $75 General Admis

sion ($65 EAA Members) | $125 VIP Dining Experience ($115 EAA Members). You can purchase tickets online

mends getting them in advance as the event has sold out in the past.

Please let me know, at your earliest convenience, if you're interested in volunteering with this March work

 party. Other EAA MN chapter members are also invited. You will have until February 21st to make your deci-

sion. EAA will need to be notified of the numbers by then so preparations can be made. There will be plenty of

work to do and no experience is necessary. Women are also encouraged to provide their efforts and a separatehousing facility will be available. EAA supplies us with free lodging and prepared meals at the Air Academy

Lodge!

Skiplane Fly-in

The first weekend in February found members of the chapthe annual EAA Skiplane Fly-in. The fly-in hosted a chiland had about 30 planes show up. Members of the leaderteam stayed after the Leadership academy was over to atteand volunteer during this event. The previous year Randythere and was made famous with the photo on the left whe
