To save more lives from cardiac arrest, the American Heart Association operates Hands-Only CPR kiosks in high-trafﬁc places, such as airports, museums, and other locations – helping to raise awareness about this lifesaving skill. Each Hands-Only CPR kiosk features a touchscreen with a video program that gives a brief “how-to” followed by a practice session and a 30-second CPR test. Through the use of a manikin, or rubber torso, the kiosk provides feedback about the depth and rate of compressions and proper hand placement – factors that inﬂuence the effectiveness of CPR. About 90 percent of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die.
