OER are defined as:…teaching, learning or research materials that are either in the public domain or have been released with an intellectual property licence that allows for their free use, adaptation and distribution (UNESCO, 2012). OER provide a strategic opportunity for improving the quality of education, fostering pedagogical innovation in teaching and learning and improving knowledge sharing and capacity building (Punie & Haché, 2013).

IMPOERS EDUCATONAL CONTEXT Person-centredness coursePedagogical innovation

Patients’ basic care needs, and the students practice nursing activities such as providing assistance with nutrition, waste elimination and personal hygiene. The clinical teaching is delivered in a training centre, where the students have the opportunity to practice in a simulated environment with authentic materials . The theoretical parts of the course are focused on ethical dilemmas and reflections related to caring for patients with basic care needs. The course also includes learning goals that are related to the ageing individual in society.
