Dam It! EVAC & Zoom

When the first Americans reached Denver, they saw nothing that even remotely reminded them of the great rivers of the eastern United States. Mark Twain had nothing good to say about the South Platte. Yet over the years, there have been numerous times when these much-maligned creeks and rivers rose to great heights, literally. Join Denver History Tours for a lesson on the city’s efforts to control the power of rushing water. Speaker will be live. 12:45 p.m. Tues. June 22 Deadline: Fri. June 18

The Story of Lucille Ball Zoom Only Lucille Ball should’ve never been a Hollywood studio mogul. Some thought she didn’t have what it took to act. Her movie career was done by the time she was 35. She went into radio, had some success and was offered a chance at TV. There were many obstacles and the “I Love Lucy” show nearly never got on the air. Lucky for us the show was a success and Lucy became a comedic icon. Speaker Evan Weiner is a veteran radio broadcaster. 1:00 p.m. Wed. June 2

The Great Depression EVAC & Zoom

The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression that took place during the 1930s, beginning with the 1929 U.S. stock market crash. What caused it? Why did it last so long? This is an extremely fascinating story of the “Ski Troops.” Speaker will be live. 12:30 p.m. Wed. June 9 Deadline: Fri. June 4
