RegulationsThe current PPE at Work Regulations 2005 require hearing protection to be supplied where an individual is exposed to noise thatwill damage hearing.

If the noise level exceeds 85dB(a) then the provision and wearing of hearing protection is mandatory. There is also a protectedmaximum exposure limit of 87dB(a) which must not be exceeded even when wearing protection.

Assessment of HazardsA critical assessment of the noise environment is essential as permanent damage to hearing is not visible and usually not painful.Damage is physical and often irreversible, resulting in loss of hearing and expensive compensation claims against employers.

Noise Surveys can be undertaken by our company to assist in assessments.Noise Meters can also be supplied for customers to carry out their own surveys.

S.N.R. – Single Noise Rating – is a single figure providing a general indication as to how much potential protection a product will give in a noisy environment, e.g. Noise level of 100dB, minus Hearing protector of 30dB = Noise reaching wearer of 70dB.
