Your Early Morning Task is on the next slide!
Coming up today…
It’s World book day!
Thursday 4th March 2021
Early Morning Task:
We all have a favourite book (sometimes more than one)!
Your Early Morning Task is to redesign the cover of your favourite book.
Some things for you to think about:
● What part of the story would most capture the interest of a new reader?
● What was your favourite part of the book?● If the book was published now, how would the
cover have changed? ● What font, colours and style would suit the
story?
My Favourite Book: Cover Redesign

Maths
It is the whole-school assembly on World Book Day and the headteacher is about to announce the winner of the best costume. But disaster has struck – the headteacher has lost the golden envelope with the winner’s name in. Use the descriptions and the clues to find out who has won.
English What would happen if you met your favourite book character?
It’s time to get creative! What would happen if you met your favourite book character?Tell us would happen by writing/making one of the following:
● A story● A diary entry● A newspaper report● A comic strip
We can’t wait to read yours!
Story starter comicsEnglish
Three of us. We were the only ones left, the only ones to make it to the island.
It was there and then it had gone, why would a rabbit be on my bathroom floor?
Icy fingers gripped my arm in the darkness.
unforgiving wind slashed at his face and the rain danced its evil dance upon his head as he tried to get his bearings on the isolated beach.
Cold and wet, tired and exhausted she made her way along the path through the forest.
"Help me!" Help me!" Came the call from behind the steel door.
Choosing one of the starters to the right, create a comic strip which continues on the story. You can take it in any direction you wish - be as creative as possible!

Times Table rockstars
Log on to Times Table rockstars for 10 minutes!
Your usernames and passwords are on seesaw. Log in to your journal and you should see them.
Quiet Reading
Spend 10 to 15 minutes reading quietly. You can choose to read whatever you like: a novel, a comic, the newspaper or even something online!
Art/DT Book Scene Shoebox Diorama!Choose your favourite scene from your favourite book and recreate in a shoebox! Be as creative as you can and try to be as accurate to the description in the book as possible. We would love you to bring these in on Monday 8th March so that we can decorate our reading area in The Burrow! If you don’t have a shoe box, don’t worry: you could use a cereal box or build on top of a piece of cardboard.
Art/DT Toilet Roll Book Characters
Create book characters
from finished toilet rolls! You
can make as many as you
want We would love you to
bring these in on Monday
8th March so that we can
decorate our reading area
in The Burrow! If you don’t
have a finished toilet roll,
don’t worry: you could use
a finished kitchen roll tube
and cut it in half!
Art/DT A bedroom for my favourite character
Choose a character from a book you are familiar with? What makes them, them? Bedrooms reflect a
person’s personality and so your design should reflect your characters’! Think about the things in your own
bedroom: did you choose the wallpaper, duvet cover, bed? How long ago? What things do you have lying
about devices, clothes, homework or old toys? Is it tidy or messy? All these things are small clues about
what kind of person you/your character is! You could keep your chosen character a secret if they are well
known and see if your friends can guess who your room belongs to!
Tweet an author
Letter’s are SOOO last year! You have 280 characters to say ANYTHING (behave, year 6) to your favourite author - what would you say?
How much you love their books and why?
Do you want to know more about something that happened?
Perhaps about how their book impacted
you?
Are you dying for them to write a sequel? Tell them why!
Do you relate to one of their characters? Tell them
why!
