Billions of plastic bags are made each year. Of these bags, 99% are thrown away into open environment. As a result 1 billion birds and mammals are dying each year by the ingestion of plastic.
The rate of deforestation equals to loss of 20 football fields every minute. Over consumption is the main causes of man- made deforestation.
Over 70% of the trash that ends in dustbin could be recycled. People just need to be trained how to recycle and start doing it.
In 20 years the city of Mumbai has grown by 100%, but the number of slum dwellers has increased by more than 1,100%. They have limited access to health and education opportunities and higher exposure to environmental toxins.
