This is a book of tragedy and a book of hope. The first half of book documents the terribleevents of January 12, 2010. The second half celebrates the life and vitality of Haiti throughphotographs of scenes of life in Haiti and through the paintings of some of Haiti's mosttalented artists.

Foreword by Lahiny Pierre Lahiny Pierre was born in Jacmel, south of Port-au-Prince,

Haiti. Her first public presentations date back to pre-school years at Kindergarten MarieCarline. At the age of fourteen she reunited with her parents in Brooklyn and finished heracademic studies. She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam. Ms. Pierretaught high school English in the New York City schools for six years and served as an adjunctat Stony Brook University. In 2000, she received a Long Island University's GraduateAssistantship to pursue an M.F.A. She now resides in Georgia where she is a full time Writerand Director of an art & literacy non-profit. Her literary works include poetry,literary criticism, screen plays, and two novels, both addressing the struggle of migration, loss,and coming to terms with one's story, which she believes, affects the present in multiple ways.She is the author of General Authority.

Cummings is a researcher and consultant at a Tokyothink-tank that, through its collaborative research, consulting, and publishing efforts, works tosupport the full actualization of human potential and enhance the sustainability of families,communities, and nations. Poetry by Yolaine M. St.Fort Yolaine M. St. Fort is a writer of Haitian descent. She hashad fiction and/or poetry published in Downtown Brooklyn, Calabash, Prose Ax , Szirine, Poetry in Performance Anthology . She is a high school Teacher and the advisor of a literary magazinetitled The Magnet.
