Earth/Space Science Current Event
1. Find a newspaper or magazine article on a CURRENT EVENT involving one of the branches of earth science.
2. Date of article - from Jan. 2011 to present.
3. The article must be neat, printed, cut out or copied,
and readable.
4. IRC has 3 scientific magazines & several newspapers that you can use to find articles to copy.
5. Internet articles from http://www.sciencenews.org/
are acceptable. (this is the only website that you can use)
Read the Article
Highlight or underline the main points of the article.
Look up any words that you do not know. Think about what the author is trying to tell
his audience.
Write the Paper
Write a 2-4 paragraph summary of the article thoroughly covering all of the main points of the article.
Write a 1-2 paragraph opinion and tell if you liked the article and agree with what it had to say, and why; or disagree and why.
Current events papers are to be neatly hand-written.
