PRESENTS CASE STUDY FOR EAST AYRSHIRE COUNCIL:
ORION PERMANENT UNDERGROUND BASE
SOCKETS FOR BOLLARDS ALONG BANK STREET,
KILMARNOCK
INTRODUCTION
Poletech Systems were very fortunate to launch the Orion Permanent Underground Socket
Base in time to be included in on a very prestigious project within Bank Street, Kilmarnock.
For anyone who is familiar with the area, lots of development has been concentrated in and
around Bank Street, which is renowned for the shopping facilities and the beauty of the
authentic block paving.
Poletech supplied over 40 sockets that were used to house a stainless steel bollard within a
Caithness stone and granite set footway. The reason for the Orion being selected was due
to the circular symmetrical design, durability and being fully manufactured in non-corrosive
materials. The result of which I’m sure you’ll agree is exceptional and distinguised in design
and the bollard and socket compliment each other perfectly.
THE INSTALLATION:
THE IMPRESSIVE RESULTS:
Lighting Technician at East Ayrshire Council, Robert Cooper said, “One of the reasons the
Orion was chosen over its competitors units was the circular design which doesn’t look out of
place and fits in with the retro design we were trying to achieve.”
He also commented on the installation guides that were provided enabled easy installation
for the teams and the ability to set the socket in concrete before the bollard was installed,
ensuring confidence that the finished design would be plumb.
The socket was manufactured in aluminium with stainless steel fixings which will not rust and
will have a long life.
