We are committed to providing a relevant and rigorous learning environment that prepares ALL students to reach their highest potential. Enclosed in our newsletter you will find important information. Thank you for your commitment to our students and school. Students have the same Administrator during their four years at East Lee County High School. It is very important that students be in school every day and on time to class. Jaguar Scholars own their success! Our school has set rigorous goals that focus on improving instruction and increasing student achievement, and we need your help in achieving those goals. Parental involvement at the high school level is critical to student success. Peer pressure is powerful, and it is essential for parents of teens to be involved in their child’s school life. One way that parents and community members can be involved is to become a member of our School Advisory Committee (SAC). This group, aside from serving in a liaison role between the community and the school administration, monitors our school improvement efforts. If you would like to become a member of our School Advisory Committee, please call Mrs. Ellen Green at (239) 369-2932 or contact her via email at [email protected]. There are many ways for parents to be involved at East Lee County High School. Volunteers are always welcome during the school day or in the evening to help with school events. To become a Jaguar volunteer, please contact Dr. Jason Kurtz at [email protected]. If providing support from the sideline better suits your interest, we encourage you to become involved by coming out and cheering on the Jaguars at our activity and athletic events. Aside from having a good time, your kids will notice and benefit from your enthusiasm. I am extremely proud of the work that our staff and students are doing every day to make progress toward improved academic achievement. I believe in the staff and students at East Lee County High School and am so fortunate to be part of the Jaguar family. Go JAGS! Welcome Back!

I would like to welcome everyone back to the 2018-19 school year at East

Lee County High School. I am pleased and honored to be serving such an

awesome school and community.

This year we are looking forward to doing great things with our Student

Athletes in the classroom, on the playing fields and in our communities. It

is my hope and vision that East Lee County High School will serve as the

premier athletic program, not only in Lee County, but in the entire State of

Florida.

This year we are excited to have Mr. Johnny Brown as our new Head

Football Coach. Coach Brown and the team look to begin the rebuilding

stages of our football program. They have been going all summer long with

camps and summer workouts, as well as tutoring and mentoring programs.

We would also like to welcome all of our new and returning Fall coaches.

This group is led by our 2017-18 Coach Of The Year, Tom Faasse, who will

be coaching Girls Volleyball. We also have Coach Josh Evans who comes to

us from Dunbar High School. Mr. Evans, along with Mr. Rob Moor, will be

coaching our Cross Country teams. Our other Fall coaches include: Mrs.

Melissa Smith and Mr. Brian Adams for swimming; Mr. Robert Giles and

Mr. Robin Jenkins for Bowling and Mr. William Holohan and Mr. Israel

Genest for Golf.

Once again, we welcome you to another fine year of Jaguar Athletics. We

look forward to your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mr. William E. Hagan

CLUB NEWS

The Medical Academy is proud to promote the HOSA club for anyone interested in being in the medical field. HOSA stands for Health Occupational Students of America. We meet bi-weekly in Room 1274 after school. Students will have the opportunity to compete in our local HOSA rally in January. Students placing in the top 3 will also have the honor of competing at the state level. Competitions include categories such as hands-on skills for CPR, Nursing Assis-tant and Forensics. There are also many knowledge tests, such as Dental Science, Sports Medicine, Pharmacology and Medical Terminology. Students do not need to be in the Medical Academy to join HOSA!
