Welcome to East Sheen East Sheen is a leafy suburb within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, nestled between Barnes and Richmond, bordered by the River Thames to the north and the vast open spaces of Richmond Park to the south.

East Sheen offers a balance of vibrant London living, and the slower pace of country life. Providing an eclectic selection of property styles from the charming Victorian cottages and townhouses, to the larger Edwardian and 1930’s family homes. Mortlake, the area between the Thames and the railway line, retains some of its early 16th century riverside properties.

No visit to East Sheen would be complete without a leisurely stroll in Richmond Park, with its 2,500 acres of deer inhabited parkland and ancient woodland. Richmond Park also offers a host of activities including Polo, horse riding, golf, rugby and fishing to name but a few. Each year Mortlake becomes a major sporting hub when the University Boat Race finishes at Chiswick bridge.

Savills East Sheen notebook

The majority of our buyers are locals who are looking to upsize in the area or people from more central London locations including Battersea and Fulham who are in search of more space for their money.

The Upper Richmond Road originally connected a ferry crossing at Putney with the Archbishop’s Palace at Mortlake and the Royal Palace at Richmond.

East Sheen was originally a hamlet within the manor of Mortlake, which was listed in the Domesday book. Henry VIII granted the manor of Mortlake to his sixth wife, Katherine Parr and retained it for his own personal use.
