Sacrament of Baptism Bring a copy of your baby’s birth certificate, a copy of the sponsors marriage certificate from the Catholic Church to the rectory office during office hours. Baptisms are the first Sundays of the month at 2PM in the chapel.

Sick Visits If you know of some one that is sick at home or in the hospital and would like to receive the Eucharist, please contact the parish office one of our Eucharistic Ministers of Care or Priests will visit you.

Anointing Mass Second Saturdays of the month at 8:15am in the chapel.

Horario de oficina es de lunes a viernes de 8:30 am, a 6:30pm. Los bautizos son los 2ndo y 4o sábados a las 11:00am, y los 4o domingos a las 2:00pm. ¡FELICES PASCUAS DE RESURRECION! Hace ya 22 años que llegue a Chicago un 17 de

agosto de 1996. Recuerdo que era una noche cálida y húmeda de verano. Al día siguiente el padre director del seminario nos llevó de paseo en lancha por el río que atraviesa la ciudad. Recuerdo que admirado por la belleza de la ciudad le dije: “Padre que hermosa es tu ciudad”. El me respondió: “Todos los visitantes dicen eso en agosto. Ya veremos si dices lo mismo en enero”. Yo pensé: “Que puede cambiar de ahora a enero?”.

Claro que viniendo de Guadalajara donde el clima es muy estable y casi primaveral no había tenido nunca la experiencia de vivir en un lugar donde las 4 estaciones del año son tan marcadas y bellas. Sobra decir que el primer invierno que pase en Chicago fue todo un contraste físico y emocional con lo que había vivido toda mi vida en México. Ante todo, el frio, los arboles que perdieron el follaje, la nieve y la oscuridad

de la noche que cubría a la ciudad desde muy temprano, los días cortos y nublados y esa angustiante ausencia del sol. Y después de este tiempo invernal la inmensa alegría de la primavera y la nueva vida en todos los aspectos del diario vivir. En la Pascua de Resurrección celebramos el paso de la muerte a la vida, del invierno a la primavera, de la esclavitud a la libertad, de la oscuridad a la luz, de la frialdad al calor, del pecado a la gracia, de la enemistad a la amistad, de la tristeza a la

alegría y de la orfandad a la filiación de hijos e hijas de Dios. La Pascua es la garantía de nuestra redención, es decir, se une el cielo con la tierra; lo humano con lo divino como lo canta el pregón pascual. Por lo tanto, la pascua la llevamos en el corazón. El lugar favorito de Dios es un corazón reconciliado que sabe vivir en una constante alegría pascual. Al sabernos reconciliados con Dios tenemos, por SU VIDA DIVINA en nosotros, la alegría pascual que nada ni nadie nos puede quitar. Quiero tomar esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos los diferentes ministerios y voluntarios que de una u otra manera trabajaron para hacer de las celebraciones de esta Semana Santa toda una experiencia espiritual. Dios y María Santísima les recompensen todos sus esfuerzos y trabajos por el pueblo de Dios. Les deseo de todo corazón que estas fiestas Pascuales les llenen de alegría y bendición. Dear parishioners, HAPPY EASTER! It's been 22 years since I arrived in Chicago on August 17, 1996. I remember it was a warm, humid summer night. The next day, the director of the seminary took us on a boat ride on the river that runs through the city. I remember that, admired for the beauty of the city, I said: "Father, how beautiful is your city". He replied: "All visitors say that in August. We'll see if you say the same in January. " I thought: "What can change from now to January?" Of course, coming from Guadalajara where the weather is very stable and almost springtime, I have never had the experience of living in a place where the 4 seasons of the year are so marked and beautiful. Needless to say, the first winter I spent in Chicago was a physical and emotional contrast to what I had lived all my life in Mexico. First of all, the cold, the trees that lost the foliage, the snow and the darkness of the night that covered the city from very early, the short and cloudy days and that distressing absence of the sun. I thought I was going to die! However, I was so much in awe to see the unbelievable transition from winter time to the immense joy of spring time and new life in all aspects of daily life. At Easter we celebrate the passage from death to life, from winter to spring, from slavery to freedom, from darkness to light, from coldness to warm, from sin to grace, from enmity to friendship, from sadness to joy and from orphan hood to be sons and daughters of God. Easter is the guarantee of our redemption, that is, heaven is united with the earth; the human with the

divine as the Easter proclamation sings. Therefore, the Passover is carried in the heart. The favorite place of God is a reconciled heart that knows how to live in constant paschal joy. By knowing we are reconciled with God, we have, through HIS DIVINE LIFE in us, the paschal joy that nothing and nobody can take away from us. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the different ministries and volunteers who in one way or another worked to make the celebrations of this Holy Week a spiritual experience. May God and Most Holy Mary reward you for all your efforts and works for the people of God. I wish you from my heart that the Easter celebration will fill you with joy and blessings. May the peace of the risen Christ fill your homes and families with HIS blessings. Fr. Miguel Martinez, Pastor

Winchester House Nursing Home in Libertyville

on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at

6:30 p.m. They also help wheel the residents to the

prayer room. If you would like to help in any way

please contact Fr. O'Reilly.

Help is needed to change the missalettes on Tuesday, April 3rd at noon in the church. Refreshments will be served. Many hands make light work.

Rest In His Arms is hosting a sewing workshop where you can

learn to turn wedding dresses into "angel gowns." These angel gowns are given to grieving families when a baby does not make it home due to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant

death. They are sent to hospitals, funeral homes and individual families. You'll be shown the process to be provided time to work on them. Unfinished projects can be

completed at home. Wedding dresses, patterns and samples will be provided - along with lunch. A workshop will be held at St. Francis de Sales in Lake Zurich on

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE FOR DECEASED CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

The Bereavement Ministry of Santa Maria del Popolo Parish invites you to celebrate a Mass of Remembrance for children who have died recently or long ago. All family members and friends are welcome to participate in this memorial Mass in honor of children, grandchildren and siblings now entrusted to God’s loving care. Please know that you are not alone in your grief as you join other families in prayer for this special service. The Mass will be held Tuesday, April 10 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel, Route 45 & W. Crystal Street, Mundelein. Parking is available behind the Rectory and in the Lake St. parking lot. There is no need to register or sign up. Just come and join us for the Mass. PLEASE NOTE: Pledge total has decreased.. This is due to parishioners/donors cancelling their pledge to this fund. The next projects will be to repair the parking lots and install an air conditioning system. These won’t be done until the funds have been collected. The parish is still open to receive new pledges from those parishioners who still wish to contribute to support the above projects. If you want to make your pledge, please take a pledge card in the kiosks located in the back of the church or in the lobby of the Chapel, or contact the parish office. We appreciate your support that will get us closer to our goal.
