love of music alone. It is hard at times, so very hard to finan-

cially manage my music but I close my eyes and bear it all

for the love of what I do,” he says earnestly.

Interestingly, when the multi-talented lad is not into music, he would be cooking. “I love to cook and writing poetry,” he confesses. And apart from what he does best, he also plays a little bit of drums and guitar, but obviously, poetry and hi-hop’s got his heart.

Excited about the next album he is currently working on, Imli discloses that it has a lot more talents and artistes helping him out while adding, “It would be very different from my usual

kind of music and to the level of

at least national music.”

Although pursu-ing hip-hop sounds

like a challenge in this part of the world, he

has indeed come a long way and all because he loves doing what he does.

Imli is also grateful for all the positive

response he has received along his musical jour-ney. “It is only because of the encouragement

and support that people give me that I have come this far,” says the young man, Nagaland’s

face of hip hop.

Firstly, Imli Lee chooses to clear off the misconception associated with hip hop, even as he puts across his ob-servation saying, “Hip hop is really a misunderstood genre of music in this part of the world, when as a matter of fact, it is the fastest growing and the most brilliant kind of music.”

Hip hop, he goes on to say, is not just music that we play, but a cul-ture, lifestyle, dance, and an art. Coming

from somebody who is rated amongst the top stage performers and is tout-ed as a born-entertainer, but much more than that is known for being original with his own style of rapping, one could say Imli Lee has given this genre of music a good name.

A young, ardent promoter of this art, he insists that “people should learn to appreciate the hard work and the creativity that goes into this kind of music”. He meticulously explains that it needs hardcore practice and precise timing to even get a beat and a flow to go together. “Not many can rap or make rap music. It takes some or at least a God given talent,” he acknowledges.

Well, he grew up writing poetry and, clearly, he has been blessed with more than one gift. As he would say “rhyming” became a part of his inter-est, outsourced directly from poetry. “Hip hop didn’t just happen to me, it made me who I am, made me speak my mind, share my experiences, encourage and show my creativity,” he says.

He regrets that here in Nagaland “especially the event organisers and those involved, except for the Na-galand Music Awards team, hip-hop

is not given any platform any-where.” To this, he also

says, “It is just more opportunities

for the rock musicians, none for the many upcoming rappers and hip hop talents around here…I pray that in the near future equal opportunities are given to all genres of music.”

He has, however, proved what he’s got having won the Hip-hop/Rap/R&B category of the Music Awards of Nagaland for two consecutive years for “Dejavu” and “Life goes on” dur-ing 2011 and 2012 respectively, after being nominated for the year 2010 prior to receiving the awards.

Notwithstanding the fact that he is a self-taught musician, who professionally got into field for the sheer love of music only during 2004, it is indeed a commendable feat for the 24-year-old who is now an ac-complished songwriter, composer and performer, and is also amongst the few full timers in the North East region in this aspect.

Before you abandon it, read this: One of nature’s most per-fect foods may be even better for us than previously thought.

Myth 1: Egg is equal to cholesterol!

Reality: Eggs are an excellent source of proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals, and high in folate, which helps makes blood in the body. Researchers at the University of Alberta recently discovered they also contain antioxidant properties, which helps in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and can-cer. They found the yolks contained two amino acids, tryptophan and tyrosine, which have high antioxidant properties. However, when the eggs are fried or boiled, antioxidant properties were re-duced by about half, and a little more than half if the eggs were cooked in a microwave.

Myth 2: Eggs are fattening!

Reality: At 90 calories, this humble, nutrition-packed handful is extremely useful for those who want to lose weight. A breakfast of one boiled egg and a whole wheat toast increase basal metabolic rate due to the thermogenic (calorie-burning) ef-fects of egg, and stabilise blood sugar, leading to lowered hunger pangs and cravings.

Myth 3: Eggs arE hEating!

Reality: Egg proteins get converted by enzymes in the stomach and small intestines and produce peptides that act the same way as ACE inhibitors, prescriptions drugs that are used to lower high blood pressure. And peptides can be formulated to help prevent and treat hypertension. Anything that helps lower your blood pressure, cannot be heat-ing, unless you’re consuming too many at a time, in which case, even spinach is bad (too much spinach will give you the runs).

Myth 4: if you’rE working out, Eat chickEn or whEy protEin, not Egg!

Reality: The egg yolk contains loads of fat soluble vitamins, like A, D, E, K and carotenoids. These fat soluble vitamins do more things than you could imagine; boost your immune system, reduce your risk of cancer, keep your bones, teeth and skin healthy, support the thyroid gland, reduce the dam-aging effects of diabetes, promote healthy growth in children to list a few. The egg yolk contains 99% of the zinc, 90% of the calcium and 95% of the folate. Astonishing! (zinc is a crucial mineral for sperm count by the way). Finally get this, egg whites are touted as the protein part of the egg, which is true. However, the yolk contains 43% of the total egg protein and balances the amino acid profile of the whole food. Need any more pumping?

Myth 5: Eat it raw!

Reality: Unless you’re Rocky Balboa running early in the morning on no feelings, eating raw eggs can make you seriously ill. Contaminated eggs kill up to 5000 individuals each year in the US. One egg in 10,000 is contaminated with salmonella, so you should never eat undercooked eggs, make eggnog on your own or mimic Rocky by swallowing them raw.

The Cause of a Rosy Face

as we were getting ready to go out, was so relieved to see that my mom had packed a big container of sunscreen lotion for me.

“Just what I need,” I said to myself as I saw the

words “SUNSCREEN LOTION, SPF 30” on the big bottle in my toilet bag.

I applied the lotion gener-ously all over my face fearing the harsh sun of Calcutta and getting dressed my friends and I headed to college with great enthusiasm.

My enthusiasm however started to waver the moment I stepped into the Calcutta sun because my face was getting a heating sensation. The sensa-tion of heat, I thought would stop after sometime. I thought I just needed to get a little used to the heat. But instead of the heating sensation on my face stopping, it kept on escalating.

I asked my friends how they were coping with the heating sensation in their face in the Calcutta sun, thinking they were feeling the same. But they all gave me a blank look and said in unison, “What?”

Then I explained to them how I was feeling and we all stopped walking and my friends closely examined my face.

One of my friends thought I was getting some sort of al-

lergy because my face was all red, another thought maybe it was the face cream I used. Then it struck me that the sunscreen lotion I used in the morning was rather sticky and even frothy when I rubbed it on my palms. So, I decided it was best to call my mother and asked what to do about it.

We quickly ran to the nearest phone booth and dialed my home phone number. When I asked to speak to my mother, my Dad, who picked up the phone sounded rather alarmed and asked me if everything was alright. And I had to reassure him that I was alright.

The moment Mom got on the line I asked,

“Mom, what kind of sunscreen lotion was that you packed for me?”

“Oh! Dear, did you apply that on your face?” she asked and continued saying,

“I was telling you that I was going to pack sham-poo in the big sunscreen container but you must have forgotten it.”

It was then I remem-bered how my mother used to buy liters and liters of shampoo and distribute it to me and all my siblings.

My friends, who had

their ears close to the phone and were listening intently, burst into laughter on hearing what my Mom said and I sighed in great relief.

In my excitement I didn’t hear my mother telling me it was shampoo in the sunscreen lotion container. And what a way to pay for paying a deaf ear to my mother! I had shampoo as sunscreen lotion, all over my face, in the hot sun, which al-most turned my face into a ripe red, cracked burning mask.

I was leaving my home town, for the very first time, to study in the big crowded city of Calcutta. My mother made sure that I packed

everything I needed – from my tooth brush to the bed clothes. She even made sure that I had sufficient toiletries to last me till I get adapted to the big city life.

I was so thrilled to be going to the city on one hand. On the other hand, I was a little afraid that I will miss home too much and will want to come back before I even started going to my classes. Nevertheless, I knew, life’s made up of comings and goings and I just needed to embark on that new journey.

My sister always talked about the city of Calcutta in awe. She often said, “There are just so many people there. Sometimes, you don’t even have to walk. The crowd of people will just push you to where you are headed.” And it always made me wonder how any place can be so crowded like that. Now, however, I was go-ing to witness all of that myself.

I, along with some friends and the older brothers and sisters of some of my friends, boarded the train at Dimapur train station one late evening to finally go to Cal-cutta. My parents dropped me to the train station and my mother was all tears as she hugged me and bade me luck in our jour-ney. I felt sad but I didn’t want to cry because if I did I knew mom would feel even sadder.

The journey didn’t seem long at all because we were always oc-cupied in the train with chatting or eating or sleeping or playing silly games. But when we reached Calcutta, we were all so tired and we went off to sleep as soon as we could in Nagaland House. The next day we were all supposed to go to our respective colleges for admissions.

I woke up to heat of Kolkata the next day and after breakfast

Because they’re such picky eaters, we sometimes think cats know what’s best for them when it’s time to eat. But the fact they’ll walk away from a piece of bad

meat doesn’t mean they’ll bypass an open can of tuna. And that can of tuna can be just as dangerous. In fact, you may be sur-prised to learn some of the common foods your cats should never eat.TunaCats can be addicted to tuna, whether it’s packed for cats or for humans. Some tuna now and then probably won’t hurt. But a steady diet of tuna prepared for humans can lead to malnutrition because it won’t have all the nutrients a cat needs. And, too much tuna can cause mercury poisoning. Remem-ber the saying, “Honest as a cat when the meat’s out of reach.” Your cat will see an open can of tuna next to the sink as a din-ner invitation.OniOns, Garlic and cHivesOnion in all forms -- powdered, raw, cooked,

or dehydrated -- can break down a cat’s red blood cells,

leading to anaemia. That’s true even for the onion powder that’s

found in some baby foods. An oc-casional small dose probably won’t hurt. But eating a large quantity once or eating smaller amounts regularly can cause onion poison-ing. Along with onions, garlic and chives can cause gastrointestinal upset.Milk and OTHer dairy PrOd-ucTsWhat could be wrong with offering your cat a saucer of milk or a piece of cheese? Although kittens are able to tolerate milk, most adult cats cannot. Their digestive system cannot process dairy foods, and the result can be digestive upset with diarrhoea.alcOHOlBeer, liquor, wine, foods contain-ing alcohol -- none of it is good for your cat. That’s because alcohol has the same effect on a cat’s liver and brain that it has on humans. But it takes far less to do its dam-age. Just two teaspoons of whisky can cause a coma in a 2 Kg cat, and one more teaspoon could kill it. The higher the proof, the worse the symptoms.GraPes and raisinsGrapes and raisins have often been used as treats for pets. But it’s not a good idea. Although it isn’t clear why, grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in cats. And, a small amount can make a cat ill. Re-peated vomiting and hyperactivity are early signs. Although some cats show no ill effects, it’s best not to give your cat any grapes and to keep grapes and raisins off countertops and other places ac-

cessible to your cat.caffeineCaffeine in large enough quantities can be fatal for a cat. And there is no antidote. Symptoms of caffeine poisoning include restlessness, rapid breathing, heart palpita-tions, muscle tremors, and fits. In addition to tea and coffee -- including beans and grounds -- caffeine can be found in cocoa, chocolate, colas, and stimulant drinks such as Red Bull. It’s also in some cold medicines and painkill-ers.cHOcOlaTeChocolate can be lethal for cats. Although most cats won’t eat it on their own, they can be coaxed to eat it by owners and others who think they are giving the cat a treat. The toxic agent in chocolate is theobromine. It’s in all kinds of chocolate, even white chocolate. The most dangerous kinds, though, are dark chocolate and unsweetened baking choco-late. Eating chocolate can cause abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures, and death.candy and GuMCandy, gum, toothpaste, baked goods, and some diet foods are sweetened with xylitol. Xylitol can cause an increase in the insulin cir-culating through your cat’s body, which will cause the cat’s blood sugar to drop. Xylitol can also lead to liver failure. Initial symptoms include vomiting, lethargy, and loss of coordination. The cat may have seizures soon after ingesting the xylitol, and liver failure can oc-cur within just a few days.faT TriMMinGs and BOnesTable scraps often contain fat trimmed off of meat and bones.

Both fat and bones may be danger-ous for cats. Fat, both cooked and uncooked, can cause intestinal upset, with vomiting and diar-rhoea. And a cat can choke on a bone. Bones can also splinter and cause an obstruction or lacerations of your cat’s digestive system.raw eGGsThere are two problems with giv-ing your cat raw eggs. The first is the possibility of food poisoning from bacteria like salmonella or E. coli. The second is that a protein in raw egg whites, called avidin, in-terferes with the absorption of the B vitamin biotin. This can cause skin problems as well as problems with your cat’s coat.raw MeaT and fisHRaw meat and raw fish, like raw eggs, can contain bacteria that cause food poisoning. In addition, an enzyme in raw fish destroys thiamine, which is an essential B vitamin for your cat. A lack of thia-mine can cause serious neurologi-cal problems and lead to convul-sions and coma.dOG fOOdAn occasional bite of dog food won’t hurt your cat. But dog food is not a substitute for cat food. They do have many of the same ingredients. But cat food is spe-cially formulated for a cat’s needs, which include more protein as well as certain vitamins and fatty acids. A steady diet of dog food can cause your cat to be severely malnour-ished.liverSmall amounts of liver are Ok, but eating too

much liver can cause vitamin a toxicity. This is a serious condition that can affect your cat’s bones. Symptoms include deformed bones, bone growths on the elbows and spine, and osteopo-rosis. vitamin a toxicity can also cause death.TOO Many TreaTsEating too much too often can do the same thing to cats that it does to humans. It can lead to obesity and even diabetes.yeasT dOuGHBefore it’s baked, bread dough needs to rise. And, that’s exactly what it would do in your cat’s stomach if your cat ate it. As it swells inside, the dough can stretch the abdomen and cause severe pain. In addition, when the yeast ferments the dough to make it rise, it produces alcohol that can lead to alcohol poisoning.yOur MedicineIngesting a drug prescribed for hu-mans is one of the most common causes of poisoning in cats. Just as you would do for your children, put all medicines where your cat can’t get to them. And never give your cat any over-the-counter medicine unless ad-vised to do so

by your vet. Ingredients such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen are common in pain relievers and cold medicine. And they can be deadly for your cat.if yOur caT eaTs wHaT iT sHOuldn’TNo matter how cautious you are, it’s possible your cat can find and swallow what it shouldn’t. It’s a smart idea to always keep the number of your local vet and the closest emergency clinic where you know you can find it in an emergency. And if you think your cat has consumed something that’s toxic, call for emergency help at once or you can call us.wHaT caTs can eaTCats are carnivores and need meat. Talking with your vet about the cat food you provide and follow-ing the directions on the label will help ensure your cat’s diet is bal-anced and your cat stays healthy.

Today we are living in a world of paradox. On the one hand, science and technology are fast advancing while on the other hand our society are facing problems of alcohol, stress, crime, corruption, mental illness etc. young people are in-creasingly affected by violence, social problems and lack of

respect for each other and the people around them. There is attrition of values among individuals in educational institu-

tions, offices, streets and even at homes. No attention has been given to the young people in inculcating the values; everyone is busy in their own way, starting from the parents, guardians, teachers, lecturers which is leading our youth in lack of responsibilities.

Educational institutional can play a significant role in inculcating values among the students. The teacher can act as a role model, guide, motivator and philosopher

Mahatma Gandhi once said that real education did not consist of packing the brain with information, facts, and figures or in passing examinations by reading prescribed number of books but by develop-ing right character. The main aim of human values is to make students good citizens who may share their responsibilities in the changing set up of the society in order to give the desired shape and image to the society.

Youth may not able to immediately appreciate good values and principles taught to them. But they register it in their minds and as they grow up the result of the teaching would be visible. It’s good to instill good values when they are young. It becomes the responsibility of the parents and teachers to help them distinguish good and bad and prepare them to face the challenges in the big wide world. It is the re-sponsibility of every parent, elders, schools, institutions to ensure they all, live up to the values they are trying to imbibe in the children.

A battle between winner and loser

truth within, the secret of suc-cess is to fall seven times and to get up eight times. In fact whether you are familiar with it or not, success comes to those who take quantum leap, to those who try to make an effort, those who persevere and to those who are brave and stands still till the end.

As a saying goes, fame fol-lows success and since nothing succeeds like success, fame together with success brings prosperity and make a man’s fortune.

Quite often, we give up the fight midway of our path think-ing that defeat will someday surely hunt us down. With this

fear, we carry on under the shade of little effort; the feeble and half-hearted attempts ten to gradually fade away result-ing in bringing nothing useful. Ultimately, unexpected suffer-ing passes more quickly than the one which is apparently bearable; the later foes on for years and without we noticing, eats away everything we have, until, one day we find ourselves no longer able to free from the bitterness of life. But that time, for what could have been at our feet, will have grown to what we cannot defeat. Such are the people who are attributed as losers by the society. And so they are defeated.

The battle, of course, must be encountered with love, strength, courage, diligence, inspiration, honesty, and confidence of oneself as one strives for victory.Sometimes even if we possess the ability to disinter and con-front our dream, there is always something behind which tend to hold us back and gradually become an obstacle; the fear of defeats we will eventually meet on the path of success.

Meantime, I ask myself: are defeats necessary? I believe it is a necessary evil. Well, whether it is necessary or not, they hap-pen even when we never think of it. When we make a new way of experience, we often make mistakes as we are never used to before in our life. But the

He and wife Victoria face months apart after Beckham, 37, signed yesterday for Paris St Germain.

And although the former England captain is thought to have done a dry run of the jour-ney between the two capitals, he has concluded that a regular commute is not feasible and

is expected to have to spend much of his time in

hotels.It is similar

to the situation ten years ago when he left Manchester United to sign for Real Madrid

During his time alone in Spain, Beckham was forced to deny claims that

he had been involved in a

four-month af-fair with his for-

mer PA Rebecca Loos.

Mrs Beckham later said of the 2004 scandal: ‘It was a really tough time. But the fact

is we’ve come out of everything we’ve been through stronger and happier.’

As he signed a five-month deal to play for PSG – one of the world’s richest clubs – Beckham revealed: ‘My wife and children will stay in London, because the children go to school there now.’

Former Spice Girl Mrs Beck-ham, 38, is also busy with a career – expanding her fashion empire.

Beckham said it would be ‘easier’ for him to stay in a hotel when he is in France add-ing he would do whatever was ‘easiest for me and the family when they come and spend time with me’.

The Qatari-owned club is understood to have offered the Beckhams and their children Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, nine, and Cruz, seven, and Harper, one, the use of a luxury home in Paris complete with pool, gym and cinema.

Beckham revealed that he will donate his entire salary from PSG – estimated to be around £170,000 a week, nearly £3.5million in total – to a chil-dren’s charity in Paris.

He’s got a lot to learn! David admitted it would be difficult for him to pick up French, consider-ing he hasn’t learned it since he was at school

‘I’m not sure it’s something

that’s been done before but it is something I’m very passionate about,’ he said, adding that he was ‘excited and proud’ to help the as yet unnamed charity.

Mrs Beckham said: ‘Myself and the children are incred-ibly proud and supportive of David and we are excited about spending time as a family in Paris over the coming weeks.

‘We are passionate about supporting children’s charities and donating to a local chil-dren’s charity in Paris is some-thing we are delighted to do.’

Beckham caused a frenzy in Paris yesterday before it was even confirmed he had signed for PSG. Hundreds of fans gath-ered at the club’s ground, Parc des Princes. ‘He is our hero,’ said Genevieve Lecomte, 19.

‘David is so handsome, and such a great player. We are very honoured that he has come here.’

Beckham admitted that he was not yet match fit but hoped to be playing for the club soon and joked he feels much younger than his age.

‘To be the elder statesman, I’m very proud of that. No mat-ter what my age is, I still feel 21 years old – most days,’ he said.

He revealed he was already working on his language skills: ‘I haven’t spoken French for quite a few years, since I was at school. I’m definitely going to have to brush up on it.’

The Recording Academy said on Thursday that the hour-long special

entitled ‘The Grammys Will Go on: A Death in the Family’ will air on February 9, the day before the 2013 Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Houston, who sold hundreds of millions of records and scored the mega hits “I Will Always Love You” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” drowned in a bathtub at a Beverly Hills hotel room on February 11 2012 – the eve of last year’s Grammy Awards show.

Houston’s unexpected death at age 48 cast a shadow over the

event, which quickly changed its program to pay homage to the soaring voice that had dominated the Grammys in decades past.

Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson per-formed a medley of Houston’s hits at last year’s Grammys, and rapper and host LL Cool J opened the show with a prayer.

The TV special on broadcaster CBS features rehearsals and interviews with artists – including Hudson, Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift – and the show’s producers in the hours before and after Hous-

ton’s death.

A court in Mumbai has ruled that Bollywood star Salman Khan will be tried for culpable homicide over a 2002 hit-and-run case which could land him

behind bars for 10 years, his lawyer said on Friday.

If convicted he faces up to 10 years in jail. Deepesh Mehta, Khan’s lawyer, says a magistrate accepted an appeal by state government prosecutors that he should be charged with homicide instead of causing death by negligence, which carries a maximum of two years in jail. “We will however challenge this decision in the High Court,” Mehta told.

one man was killed and another three were injured when Khan allegedly

rammed his car into a group of homeless people sleeping on a Bombay sidewalk in September 2002.

Khan was being tried under a lesser charge of rash and negligent driving but prosecutors had filed an application for the charges to be upgraded, which the court upheld. The new offences carry sentences of up to 10 years in prison.

“The court said there was enough evidence to show the act was not in-cidental and hence the case should be tried under a more serious section,” the Times of India reported on Friday, quot-ing another of Khan’s lawyers Kaushal Thakkar.

In view of the graver charges against him, the actor would be required to ap-

pear before the session’s court where the trial is expected to start Feb 11.

The trial in the case started before the Bandra Magistrate Court in 2006.

Khan is one of Bollywood’s biggest stars and has starred in more than 80 Hindi films, he is often known as the ‘bad boy’ of Bollywood. He has been a controversial figure since he first broke into Bolly-wood in the late 1980s.

In 1998, he spent more than a week in prison for killing endan-gered Indian gazelles in the northern state of Rajasthan.

i thought life was over after weight gain, says Jessica simpson

JessicA simpson admits that she couldn’t believe her weight would ever get as high as it did post-pregnancy.

The 32-year-old sing-er-and-actress famously packed on 70lbs. while she was expecting her daughter Maxwell, who was born in May 2012.

Jessica, who is now pregnant with her

second child with former American footballer Eric Johnson, had no real concept of what she truly weighed while expectant for the first time.

The Weight Watchers representative came to terms with reality pretty brutality during her initial weigh-in with the diet programme.

“It was the first time I had to come face-to-face with the scale, and I looked at the scale, and I thought my life was completely over,” she revealed in a personal video for Weight Watchers’ I’m only Human And I Did It project.

“I was not expecting to see the number that I saw, because it’s just never a number that I could fathom weighing but I did. I had a moment there where I was standing on the scale, and faced with a severe truth and I didn’t know if I could do it. I really didn’t know if it was gonna happen for me.”

Jessica will not eat voraciously this time around. She will nourish herself and the baby with healthy meals.

“Now I’m pregnant again, and I’m looking at the scale, and I’m making the right decisions with what I’m eating,” Jessica said. “I still have my desserts just not four of them.”

Beyonce has opened up about her heartbreaking miscarriage for the first time, it was revealed on Thursday.

The 31-year-old, who is mar-ried to rapper Jay-Z, addresses the tragedy in her upcoming HBo documentary, Life Is but a Dream.

She suffered the loss sev-eral years before the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy in January 2012. ‘About two years ago, I was preg-nant for the first time,’ she says. ‘And I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.’ ‘I picked out names,’ she recalls. ‘I envisioned what my child

would look

like.. I was feeling very maternal.’She lost the child in the early

stages of her pregnancy. ‘I flew back to New York to

get my check up - and no heart-beat,’ she says. ‘Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.’

The star, who married Jay-Z in April 2008, turned to music to help her get through her pain. Her husband Jay-Z first referenced the miscarriage in Glory, a track re-corded within days of Blue’s birth in January 2012.

Beyonce was thrilled when she discovered she was pregnant again in 2011 and found it hard to keep the news to herself to begin with. ‘Being pregnant was very much like falling in love. You are so open. You are so overjoyed.

‘There’s no words that can express having a baby growing in-side of you, so of course you want to scream it out and

tell every-

one.’ In one scene, she confides: ‘I felt the baby kick for the first time. Kicked five times.’

After cautiously keeping the pregnancy a secret, she finally revealed her bump in spectacular fashion at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011.

She famously rubbed her tum-my during a performance of Love on Top and it went on to become the most-tweeted moments of the year. She later faced rumours she was wearing a fake bump and us-ing a gestational surrogate.

‘A stupid rumour, the most ri-diculous rumor I’ve ever had about me,’ she says. ‘To think that I would be that vain...’ She admitted she was ‘scared to death’ of birth, but added it’s ‘the most powerful thing you can ever do in your life.’

Meanwhile she held a press conference on Thursday ahead of the event and took the opportunity to address her recent lip-synching controversy. She admitted that she did sing along with a backing track when she performed the

national anthem on Inaugura-tion Day on January 21.

She described herself as a ‘perfectionist’ and

said she wasn’t able to properly rehearse

with the orches-tra before the

event.
