VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FUNDRAISING EVENTS
Are you a person who finds happiness in helping the homeless,
(homeless animals, that is)? If so, we want you to join our team!
Eastshore Humane Association needs people to help with fundraising events. Eastshore depends onthese events to help support the shelter. As you may have guessed, this is NOT a paid position. But
before you crumple this up and throw it away, please hear us out …If you have an idea for a fundraiser,we would love to hear about it OR if you are into crafts and would like to make a gift to donate to a
fundraiser, please let us know that as well.
Signing up is NOT a commitment to help—it’s only permission to contact you. There is no obligationfor you to assist with any event. But if you are interested in helping with a specific event, such as Mardi
Paws, ESHA’s Rummage Sales, or Brat Frys, please specify. The amount of time you wish to devote isup to you . . . no pressure. If you want to help at a single event or during the summer months only . . .
that’s okay. We are grateful for any help you are willing to offer.
If you are interested, please complete the section below. You can fax, e-mail or mail this form to theshelter. You can also call us at 920-849-2390 and we’ll sign you up!

5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PET HAPPY AND ACTIVE
(Article by Kristen Collins, CPDT, ASPCA Animal Trainer)
“With nothing to do, dogs and cats are forced to find ways to entertain themselves,” explains Collins.“Their activities of choice often include behaviors we fine problematic, like excessive barking or
meowing, gnawing on shoes, raiding the garbage, eating houseplants, and scratching the furniture.”
To prevent behavior and health problems, the following five physical and mental workouts for your petare recommended:
• Move it! Health adult dogs need at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise twice a day. Jogging, swimming and playing at the dog park are all great ways to burn excess energy.
• Engage in structured games, like fetch and tug-of-war. They’re not only great exercise butalso teach your pet impulse control and strengthen the bond between you.
• Keep your dog occupied when he is home alone by giving him a food-stuffed puzzle toy orsome tasty chew toys.
• Like their canine counterparts, cats also need plenty of aerobic exercise. Get kitty fit withrousing play sessions, such as chase and fetch with furry toys, small balls or toy mice.
• Teach your cat new tricks! Felines are quick studies and can learn practical skills likecoming when called, sitting up, rolling over and even using the toilet.
Collins adds: “The bottom line is that you are responsible for enriching your pet’s life. Providingopportunities to exercise your cat or dog’s mind and body will keep them healthy and happy.”
For more info about enriching your pet’s life, please read expert advice at www.aspcabehavior.org.
