Introduction
Children adore pictures; and pictures can be used to deliver a lot of information to thechildren very easily; visual aids make learning easy and joyful.
Children like to be happy and stress free; and joyful learning provides an opportunity forthat to the children; stress is a part of the lives of the underprivileged children; that iswhy whenever something is done to address their specific needs, one must keep inmind the problems, which they face in life.
The pursuit of happiness ischildrens natural instinct; in thisdocument we will try to propose afew ideas, which will makelearning a joyful experience forthe children.
Education must be fun, otherwise children will lose interest. The underprivilegedchildren are very smart because they have to survive in a cruel world, where no one isgoing treat them as children: these circumstances lead to situations where thesechildren create ways to make them happy. Now our course curriculum and teachingmethods must be more interesting in comparison with the activities and objects thatthese children use to make them happy. If their own world is more attractive, thenthey wi l l not come to the educat ional effor ts that are made for them.
In this document we will use art and craft as methods to teach language andmathematics / numbers, and our approach will be through stories. We will treat the
alphabet and numbers as symbols; and they will be linked with a story and every storywill have components of language and mathematics. The characters of the stories willbecome ingredients for the art and craft section, which will give the children a chance tobe creative and also the opportunity to play with colors.
This technique of introducing alphabet and numbers is for the early part of learning, letter when the children are habituated / comfortable, they will start finding happiness ineducation and willingly take part in regular / mainstream course curriculum.
Loreto Day School, Sealdah is a mainstream school that has opened its gates forunderprivileged children and doing many educational projects for them1.
The pursuit of joyful learning methods is the soul purpose of this document, and wehope that our effort will inspire others, just like many others efforts that has inspired usto make this document.

Easy Drawing
Children like to imagine and we are going use that feeling to expand their horizon. Everyperson performs better when that person is happy, and children are no different. Ouraim is to make learning a joyful experience for children, so that they perform better in
life / face challenges of life with a Smile.
What is Easy Drawingits expression of thoughts through drawings.
How to do / Instructionslet your imagination run free.
Advantages of using Easy Drawing techniques brings happiness toclassroom.
An alphabet and a number is a symbol, and from symbols drawing can be made, its notalways necessary that a drawing, which will start from an alphabet will end up with a
picture that starts with that same alphabet, for example from the alphabet A the drawingcanend up with a picture of a Butterfly.
The children and teachers must try to make new drawings with alphabet and numbers. For their reference these are few drawings using the symbols / letters and numbers ofHindi, Urdu, Bengali and English.

These are some of the activities proposed for children, the teachers can also add to thelist of activities.
The main character of the Numberstory Alligatorcan be the subject for art and craft. Achart can be made for the story (page no. 4), which will help the teachers about story
telling.
Children can do activities like this with the help of stencils and they can also draw thecharacters and objects from the story.

The teachers can also simply draw the story on the blackboard, for this kind of teachingblackboards are the most important Teaching / Learning Materials (TLM).
Note: - at the time of training teachers will be provided with instructions about easydrawing techniques.

These are some of the activities linked with the Languagestory.
One side of the paper can have a picturelike this; or the children can fold the paper
from the center / middle and from thefolded edge draw the half of the butterfly. Now turn the page and add colors to theother side, when you are finshed fold itagain and cut through the lines.
Shapes like these can be made on apaper with the help of stencils and
rulers; then children can put colorsand after that cut the shapes and tryto make objects by putting them inorder / arrange them according totheir liking.
The stories can always go beyond its storyline and children must always be encouragedto add to the stories, and children who like to tell stories, are must be encouraged abouttelling stories everyday, this will also inspire other children who are shy.
Expanding the Stories
Example the Number Story

Note: - teachers must encourage the children to ask questions, and teachers must behappy about answering questions.
This document is made in English, but the TLM / resources will made in Indianlanguages like Hindi, Urdu, and Bengali etc.
The teachers will receive trainings about story telling and easy drawing and also aboutuse of TLM; after that the teachers will also take part in TLM making.
