  • Migration to BusinessObjects BI Platform 4

14 Migration to BusinessObjects BI Platform 4

This chapter describes the procedure to migrate from BusinessObjectsEnterprise XI 3 to BusinessObjects BI Platform 4 on the BIS.Note: BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3 is hereafter referred to as the

source. BusinessObjects BI Platform 4 is hereafter referred to as thedestination. This strictly applies to the current section only.

The upgrade process involves stop, start and restart of services on the BIS.Hence, the BIS should be considered to be out of service for the entireduration of the upgrade. It is mandatory to stop general usage of the BIS/WASuntil upgrade is complete.

Report schedules must be stopped in the source environment prior tobeginning the upgrade. These can be resumed once upgrade is complete.

All repository content will be migrated from the source to the destinationrepository with the exception of Crystal reports.

Note: Any reports or universes saved locally on the BIS/WAS are not inscope. It is the responsibility of individual user to backup such content.

    14.1 Prerequisites

    14.1.1 Availability of temporary space

The BIS should contain sufficient temporary disk space for migration of BIcontent from the source to the destination repository. Following stepsshould be executed on the BIS to verify this:

    1. Launch Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramFiles\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0.Replace C: with the drive letter of the hard drive that BO Enterprise XI 3software was installed on.

    2. Right click on FileStore folder and select Properties. Note the foldersize.

    3. Verify that free space on the hard drive containing the temporary directoryis equal to or greater than twice the size of Filestore folder from theprevious step. Temporary directory on Windows is set by the TEMPenvironment variable.

14.1.2 Availability of appropriate license keys

For all users and associated objects to be migrated from the source to thedestination deployment, it is essential that the required license keys are

    651/1531-CNA 403 1452 Uen BX | 2015-03-25

  • Ericsson Business Intelligence Deployment (EBID) Installation and Upgrade Instructions

installed in the destination deployment. Installed license keys, as describedon Page 83, should be of the required type, named user or concurrent user, and size to allow migration of all users from the source repository.
