TWELVE SYMPTOMS

In one of my former churches we had a 12 step recovery program for teenagers

that met after school every day to help support the kids in their sobriety. After

she had been in the program for a while, one of the students wrote “Twelve

Symptoms of a Spiritual Awakening.” I want to share it with you, because I’m

hoping that as you are involved in our Companions in Christ small groups or in

other ministries of the church, you are seeing these “symptoms” in your own life.

Enjoy!

Twelve Symptoms of Spiritual Awakening

1. An increased tendency to let things happen rather than make them

happen.

2. Frequent attacks of smiling.

3. Feelings of being connected with others and nature.

4. Overwhelming episodes of appreciation.

5. A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than from fear based

on past experience.

6. An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.

7. A loss of ability to worry.

8. A loss of interest in conflict.

9. A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.

10. A loss of interest in judging others.

11. A loss of interest in judging self.

12. Gaining the ability to love without expecting anything in return.

God Bless,

Lynne

Finance Committee Update -

For the first time in many years, income exceeded expenses for the year 2014!

We recognize that God is doing wonderful things in our church and, for this, we are

very grateful! Thank you to our church leadership and staff, and thank you all for

your generosity, which enabled our financial condition to improve tremendously.

Because of your faithfulness and, as a result of the commitments you’ve made for

providing support this new year, we have successfully established a balanced budget

for 2015.

Your prayerful support is vital and appreciated as we seek ways to continue making a

difference for Christ in the Lake Jackson community.

Blessings to you all! Tom Crawford

Finance Chairman

Blessed are the leaders who have not sought the high place, but who have been drafted into service because of their ability and willingness to serve. Blessed are the leaders who know where they are going, why they are going, and how to get there. Blessed are the leaders who know no discouragement, who present no alibis. Blessed are the leaders who know how to lead without being dictatorial; true leaders are humble. Blessed are the leaders who seek the best for those they serve. Blessed are the leaders who lead for the good of the most con-cerned, and not for the personal gratification of their own ideas. Blessed are the leaders who de-velop leaders while leading. Blessed are the leaders who march with the group, interpret correctly the signs of the path-ways that lead to success. Blessed are the leaders who have their heads in the clouds but their feet on the ground. Blessed are the leaders who con-sider leadership an opportunity for service.

Children’s Choirs - It’s Not Too Late to Join!

Every now and then you hear about people doing kind deeds. *A young person helping the elderly *An anonymous person paying for someone's meal * A friend helping another friend But the big news is that Jesus demonstrated kindness all the time. He showed kindness to all people: children, beg-gars, the sick, and the outcast. So this month, let's explore what the Bible says about kindness. Luke 6:31 - Do to others as you want them to do to you. My parents always taught me to be kind to everyone. A great reminder of what Jesus said about kindness is in the Bible. Week 1 - Mark 10:13-16 Jesus and the children Bottom Line - There's always time to be kind. Week 2 - Ruth 1/2 Naomi/Ruth Bottom Line - Be kind to your family and friends. Week 3 - Matthew 25:35-40 Jesus and the least of these Bottom Line - Be kind to people who are overlooked. Week 4 - Acts 9:26-30 Saul and Barnabas Bottom Line - Be kind to people who aren't kind to you. Kindness is important in our world and when we show it to others, we are showing others the heart of Jesus. So as we celebrate Valentine's day this month, let's think of ways that we can show kindness to our kool friends, family, and even people we don't know.
