Douglas says:-
We recently completed the hanging of members' work at Barbourne and Thornloe Lodge. This will be on
display for the next three months. If you would like to see that work, both surgeries would be delighted if
you popped in - just sign the visitors' registers and then wander around the exhibitions.
· Barbourne Health Centre is on the corner of Crown Street and Droitwich Road, very close to where we
meet at St Stephen's Church. (67 prints)
· Thornloe Lodge Surgery is at 29 Barbourne Road, diagonally opposite St Georges Square (16 prints).
Between now and the end of our season I would like to refresh our exhibitions at Crowngate, Swan Theatreand Quanta Training. If you would like to contribute to any or all of these exhibitions please enter your work
on the exhibition website. What you need to know about contributing is posted on the site under Forthcom-ing Exhibitions.

Roger Plant alerts us to a recent page in Worcester News. A half- centrefold plug for the current APFH
Barbourne exhibition . . .
He added a quip from a member upon seeing the piece when he spotted that both the exhibition organiser’s
and Publicity officer’s pictures were spread across the page! “Glad to know that corruption is alive and well
in the WCC and serving a good purpose!”
You might also notice a bit of canny product placement in the picture of Ella by Roger!

Members’ News & Pictures
New MemberA warm WCC welcome to Matt
Hodgkisson, who writes:-
I started at an early age (around 7
or 8) with a basic instamatic film
camera taking pictures of anything
and everything (guess you do at
that age).
I then progressed though to film
SLR and finally digital SLR, all the
while improving (hopefully).
During that time the one thing I
loved to photograph above all was
aircraft both in static displays and
in flight, will include a couple of
shots to give you some idea of my
photography. I will still pretty
much take pictures of anything
else but aircraft and mechanical
objects are where I am happiest
and do my best work
Please feel free to ask any ques-
tions, I am always happy to share
what I have learnt and hopefully
pick up a few ideas myself along
the way.

You may recall that Les Bailey put out an
enquiry about CSCs a little while ago, and
he also kindly agreed to feed back...
I have the Fujifilm XT 1 now, and on
James Woodend's suggestion bought the
10-24 lens too. I had the 18-55 and
55-200 second hand with the XPro 1, all
great lenses. I have yet to use it in anger,
but intend to take a few shots with the
Fuji and the Nikon D800 side by side for
comparison.
My first impression is that the Fuji is
much more like a DSLR in terms of con-
trols, super TTL optics so can be held in
the familiar shooting position, great fo-
cus and superb lens, especially stabilisa-
tion for shaky old buggers like me. And
of course very light and portable.
Les has also been out and about taking
some great graffiti shots.
These three shots are just samples of
graffiti, taken near Stourbridge in what
was once a very large factory, and is now
a derelict site with just the odd wall
standing. I went there last April and have
been intending to return and take some
‘proper’ shots. All these are hand-held,
and taken fairly quickly. There’s loads of
potential for better, so maybe this year!
It might be that the artwork isn’t the
same now, but it might just be worth
going.
Overleaf is a selection of graffiti images
taken in central Birmingham.

Les reckons there are obviously a few slightly unhinged graffiti artists in Brum!

And Finally…Richard Sarginson spotted this unfortunate juxtaposition:
It’s obviously a seriously grave business preparing for an election, you can get buried under the workload you
suddenly have. Avoiding burn-out is critical as you know that, as the campaign progresses, things will hot up.
You start with such hopes, but they can all turn to ashes.
