CompanybackgroundECOES Consulting, Inc. is a woman‐owned small
business established in 1998. ECOES has been a
leader in supplying protected marine species
observers and equipment for a variety of marine
industries.
We began in a small Florida office focusing on
manatee protection plans for construction and
blasting activities and were quickly pulled into
the arena of sound impacts to marine mammals
and turtles. Through experience and data
acquisition we moved into a wide variety of
industries requiring sound mitigation protocols,
permitted protection plans, and impact
assessment for all types of marine species.
We have logged thousands of offshore man‐
hours for protected species mitigation during
geophysical, O&G, LNG, dredging, construction,
and decommissioning projects throughout the
world.
We have expanded our field office locations and
have had the great opportunity to team and
work with many different companies as their
marine mammal & sea turtle experts within
larger projects.
We strive to minimize operational downtime
while maintaining full compliance with
regulations using the highest scientific standards.
LookingAhead
As the oceans and coastlines continue to develop
and impacts to marine species need to be better
understood, it becomes increasingly important for
consultancies such as ECOES to keep up with
emerging technologies.
ECOES is deeply involved in new systems
development for detection, enumeration, and
protection of marine species that will assist clients
in their mitigation and assessment needs while
providing comprehensive scientific data to
researchers and regulators.

The heart of our business, ECOES supplies trained monitoring personnel qualified to work in any marine industry where impacts to marine protected species must be monitored or mitigated. We have been a leader in providing compliance personnel for the offshore oil & gas, wind, and seismic industries since 2002 and other industries since 1998.
ECOES has extensive experience working under all federal and many local and state agencies to meet permitting requirements. We can provide visual observers, acoustic observers, and aerial observers for any sized project
All our personnel carry appropriate certifications and permits for the assigned jobs and all have rigorous HSE training, offshore survival, medical and security clearances.
A c o u s t i c M o n i t o r i n g & c h a r a c t e r i z a t i o n s e r v i c e s ECOES has developed a state of the art bioacoustics monitoring system, SeaBAM, in collaboration with Hydroscience Technologies, Inc., and Cornell University’s Bioacoustics Research Laboratory.
We have successfully deployed this system throughout the US Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and the European North Sea on seismic and research vessels. We are capable of providing research, mitigation and survey services for any project parameters.
Along with acoustic species surveys, ECOES can provide noise footprint assessment for construction operations and vessel noise measurements. We offer calibration services for installation of each system to insure you are meeting your permitting goals.

In an exciting new field that has its roots in the European wind energy industry; ECOES has teamed with Normandeau Associates and their “High Def” team in developing protocols and survey designs using high altitude imaging for identification and quantification of marine species. This is a new technology field that shows great promise for many applications. Contact us for more information or to arrange a presentation about our involvement with these collaborative projects.
