Area – A; SNP Square

This square is also a geographical centre of the town. The main road from Partizánske passes through it. The square is the most

used during the annual fair which takes place before the summer holiday. Last year, the square was renovated thanks to the funds from EU. Now the area is considered to be the most beautiful in

the town.

Area – B; Motel Sitno

District began to take shape in the nineties of last century, when there was built a motel on a busy main road between Banská Bystrica and Bratislava (that’s why the area is called “Motel Sitno”). Building a bypass around the city caused the failure of this motel.

Conclusion

The biggest problem in the development of trade in Žarnovica is that the rent from owners of buildings in each of those three areas is too high. Also services such as post office, health centre, office or school are often nearly 2 km far away. For the town as Žarnovica (without public transport) it constitutes a problem for the customers. While it explains the formation of three centres, inhabitants would like to change it.
