While they were there, the time came for her to have her child,
and she gave birth to her firstborn son.
She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn. / Luke 2.6-7/
My dear Parishioners, Sisters and Brothers!
When a world was covered in darkness on this one
and only, holy night, holding his breath, waiting for a
miracle, we look at the manger, we look in the eyes of
Newborn Son of God.
The atmosphere of the Lord’s Nativity always fills our
hearts with the joy of greeting with the long awaited Messiah.
I wish that this Christmas joy will find its expressions in our
families when we exchange warm greetings, experience special
moments with relatives, sharing with them our love and peace
that comes from the Mystery of the Incarnation.
May Christmas joy enlighten your daily life, fill your
hearts with God’s amazing love and bring you the hope of a
better tomorrow in the New Year, 2020.
On behalf of Sacred Heart Parish priests and staff, I wish you and your family that Jesus
Christ, Son of God, born of the poverty and cold enriches your life everyday by His presence and
blessings throughout New Year 2020!
Mary, Blessed Mother of God, pray for us!
In this holy time when we celebrate the Nativity of the Son of God, I assure you once again
that I pray for you every day and I am asking you very much: pray for me, please.
As we enter into the season of love and life, may you be blessed with divine peace and joy!
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
With prayer,
Fr. Jacek Wrona, pastor

Fourth Sunday of Advent
December 22, 2019
They shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” — Matthew 1:23
TRUST IN GOD On this final Sunday of Advent our scriptures focus on the historical birth of Jesus, who is son
of David and Son of God, child and king, Jesus and Emmanuel. Isaiah the prophet begs Ahaz
to ask for a sign, to allow God to offer him reassurance of the survival of the Davidic dynasty.
The king hypocritically refuses to “tempt the LORD” in that way (Isaiah 7:12), but the prophet
foretells the birth of a son, an heir to the throne, who will prove the Lord’s enduring protection
of God’s chosen lineage on the throne of David. The child will be called Emmanuel.
Matthew’s reference to this history in his description of the birth of Jesus highlights the
contrast between the faithless refusal of trust shown by Ahaz, and the complete trust in God
shown by Mary and Joseph in bringing about the birth of Jesus Christ. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
CHRISTMAS
A young mother, her eyes shining with fatigue,
who is arranging her hair; a father who finds
himself alone with his pretty wife and baby,
straightening the stable to make himself useful
in some way; shepherds who bring cheese and
perhaps also some curdled milk; sheep who
look at their shepherds while bleating; a
donkey who is eyeing his manger changed into
a cradle; an adorable swaddled baby whom
one calls Savior, Christ and Lord: This is the
manifestation of the goodness and the
tenderness of God. This is the most fantastic
birth in the history of humanity, the one which
changed the face of the world! This is how far
God humbled and compromised himself with
us!
This is Emmanuel!

SAINT STEPHEN (first century) - December 26
“A man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit” (Acts 6:5): thus Luke introduces Stephen, first of seven deacons chosen by the
community for its ministry of charity, first to lay down his life in witness to Christ. As the church’s first martyr, Stephen’s life and
death mirror the preaching and passion of Jesus, “the faithful witness” (Greek, martyr) (Revelation 1:5). Like Jesus, Stephen works
“great signs and wonders among the people” (Acts 6:8). Like Jesus, when falsely accused, Stephen’s face radiates angelic serenity
(Acts 6:15), though his tongue, like Jesus’, is a two-edged sword. As the dying Jesus forgave his executioners, even making excuses
for them, then commended his spirit into his Father’s hands (Luke 23:34, 46), so Stephen intercedes for his murderers and begs
Jesus to receive his spirit (Acts 7:60, 59). How fruitful both passions! The penitent thief inherits Paradise; Saul, who consented to
Stephen’s killing, is transformed into the fearless preacher Paul. Thus Stephen challenges us to bear witness not in words only, but
by Christ-like forgiveness toward all. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

GARDENS OF MEMORY AND THANKSGIVING
With Christmas is upon us, what better way to give thanks to God
for all that He has given us this past year.
Why not make a lasting memory for those
who have made a special impact in your life
or for those that are never forgotten.
Are you looking for a unique gift for that someone special this year for
Christmas? Perhaps a brick in our memorial gardens will let them know just
how much they mean to you.
At the Church entrances you can find a brochure containing all the
information you need to order a memory brick. Call the Parish office at
708-974-3336 and ask for Paul Mikula
OGRODY PAMIĘCI I WDZIĘCZNOŚCI
W najbliższym czasie, kiedy będziemy świętować Boże Narodzenie -
pomyślcie o upamiętnieniu swoich bliskich.

There are young men and women far from home, called to serve their nation in time

Kiedy tam przebywali, nadszedł dla Maryi czas rozwiązania.
Porodziła swego pierworodnego Syna,
owinęła Go w pieluszki i położyła w żłobie,
Drodzy Parafianie, Siostry i Bracia,
W tym świętym czasie oczekujemy na cud. Patrzymy na
świat, pogrążony w ciemności – i wstrzymując oddech, w tę
jedną, świętą noc spoglądamy w oczy Nowonarodzonego
Bożego Syna: Największego cudu na świecie.
Atmosfera Świąt Bożego Narodzenia przepełniona jest
zawsze radością, z jaką staramy się witać długo oczekiwanego
Mesjasza.
i życia naszych rodzin, krewnych, przyjaciół, sąsiadów.
Niech zatem radość i światło Narodzenia Bożego Syna,
wypełni nasze serca niesamowitą Bożą Miłością i przyniesie
nam wszystkim nadzieję na lepsze jutro w Nowym 2020 Roku.
W moim własnym imieniu, Ks. Davida oraz innych Księży, którzy pomagają w naszej parafii
i wszystkich pracowników – życzę Wam i Waszym rodzinom, aby Jezus Chrystus, Syn Boga,
urodzony w skrajnym ubóstwie, ubogacił Wasze codzienne życie swoją obecnością i
błogosławieństwem w całym Nowym Roku.
Niech otacza i chroni Was opieka Maryi, Matki Boga!
Niech Bóg Wam błogosławi i obdarza Swoim pokojem i radością.
Wesołych Świąt Bożego Narodzenia i Błogosławionego Nowego Roku!
Z modlitwą,
Ks. Jacek Wrona, probosz
