Objective
To foster innovation and help the students to build skills, solutions and business by connecting academia, government
and organizations.
What is MIC?
Microsoft Innovation Centers (MICs) are state-of-the-art technology facilities for collaboration on innovative research,
technology or software solutions, involving a combination of government, academic and industry participants. There are now
more than 100 Microsoft Innovation Centers worldwide.
Microsoft Innovation Center Roadmap
What to expect?
An MIC may choose to work on specific projects that could be based on student ideas or industry problems.
The success of the center depends on the ability of the students to realize these ideas. It is critical that projects limit themselves
to reasonable timelines and the host college ensures continuity and ecosystem participation.
The primary focus of MIC is to support innovation at the grass root level and undertake projects that have potential for local
industry adoption, improving the skills of students and creating employment in ecosystem
MIC centers are inclusive in nature
MIC centers build and accelerate relevant skills amongst the students, convert ideas into products and foster entrepreneurship
MIC centers act as incubation facilities in colleges
MIC centers cannot charge students to participate, however colleges are free to charge industries to sustain their operations
Validity
Twelve months. The MIC will be established in a Ed-vantage Platinum qualified campus for one year from the date of signing the
MIC MOU.
When can we have the MIC?
Once the campus is qualified for Platinum level benefits, the MIC team shall start the process for establishing the MIC.
There is no fixed time as the official work may take a few weeks to start the work for launch.
