    3. Compare and Contrast - Teacher will complete a Venn diagram on butcher paper withinput from each table group.

    F. CLOSURE: Have students discuss with their face partner one thing they learned aboutnurses today.

    G. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding?

Students will verbally respond to these two prompts. Name one way nurses are like

mail carriers. Name one way nurses and mail carriers are different.

Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson.Students must Identify and describe occupations in the community that help people,

i.e., police officers, fire fighters, and nurses. By being able to tell how mail carriers and

nurses are similar and different, students will demonstrate an understanding of these

    two occupations.

    H. Reflection:1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach?

I think reading the book and discussing it will be the easiest to teach.

    2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach?I think the assessment will be the most challenging part of this lesson.

    3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson?

I could follow up this lesson by reading Nurses by Julie Murray which focuses on

school nurses and have the school nurse come in as a guest speaker.

    4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For students who dont understand the concepts in this lesson, I will go over the

Venn diagram with them again, focusing on the most obvious similarities and

    differences.

    5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? The assessment might need to be changed. I wasnt sure if it was okay to do a

    verbal assessment.

    6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part?

The hardest part in writing this lesson plan was once again the assessment. I feel like

I tend to do the same types of assessments over and over and I wanted to do

something different. However, I wasnt sure if a verbal assessment was okay and/or

    feasible.
