He was a writer, romantic poet and journalist. Universally known as one of the most important masters of the short story and his tales of mistery, he was also considered the inventor of the detective-fiction genre . Because of his work he lived in several cities: Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. In 1835 he married his cousin Virginia Clemm, who was only 13. In 1845 he published a poem that would make him famous "The Raven" His wife died two years later. He started to plan the production of his own journal, but The writer's dream was never fulfilled, he died before he could do it. He died on 7 October 1849, in Baltimore, when he was 40 years. The cause of death is unknown. Edgar Allan and his works have influenced literature in the United States and around the world and has always been admired by popular culture.
