ITINERARY

DAY 1 SUN 2 JULHOME TO LONDON

Meet Colin Barlow, your Ross Tour Leader for the flight to London.

DAY 2 MON 3 JULRICHMOND, LONDON

Arrive into London. Morning visit to Kew Gardens. Check in to our hotel. Option to visit Petersham Nursery with great plants and gifts. Welcome dinner this evening.

DAY 3 TUE 4 JULHAMPTON COURT FLOWER SHOW

Arrive early at the Hampton Court Flower Show with hundreds of flower displays and designer gardens. Return to Richmond by river boat down the Thames.

DAY 4 WED 5 JULRICHMOND - CARDIFF

To Cardiff and Dyffryn Gardens at St Nicholas, a gem of the National Trust Wales. These Edwardian gardens flow from grand vistas to intimate spaces. Check in to our luxury hotel on Cardiff Bay.

DAY 5 THU 6 JULCARDIFF

To the Veddw, the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ garden. A design with sweeps of gardens and views. This ambitious garden blends

formality, colour, texture and distinct personality. Next is Tintern Abbey, a 12th C. ruin in the Wye River Valley.

DAY 6 FRI 7 JULCARDIFF - CHESTER

Brian’s Ground at Presteigne was created by two garden gurus, known for their journal, Hortus. They will be expecting us with morning tea. Powis Castle ranks in the top ten gardens in the British Isles. This estate has everything; medieval castle, old trees and walled garden.

DAY 7 SAT 8 JULCHESTER

To Biddulph Grange, a Victorian garden that has to be seen to be believed, inspired by garden history: China garden, Cheshire Cottage and Egyptian Court.

DAY 8 SUN 9 JULCHESTER - YORK

To Chatsworth House in the Peak District, set on the River Derwent in a park landscaped by Capability Brown. The Great Cascade tumbles down the hillside, built in 1700.

DAY 9 MON 10 JULYORK

Castle Howard today... remember Brideshead? Explore the Walled Garden, rose garden, cut flower garden and potager.

DAY 10 TUE 11 JULYORK

Harrogate today to visit RHS Harlow Carr. Explore the Kitchen Garden, stroll along the flower borders and check out the woodland and Scented Garden.

DAY 11 WED 12 JULYORK - LAKES DISTRICT

To the Lakes District and the garden of Arabella Lennox Boyd, Gresgarth Hall. In its valley of the River Artle Beck, this grand manor has a garden to match. On to Windemere with dinner included.

DAY 12 THU 13 JULLAKE WINDEMERE

We’ll visit Beatrix Potter’s 17thC. farmhouse: a time-capsule of her life. Option this afternoon to cruise on Lake Windemere.

DAY 13 FRI 14 JULLAKE WINDEMERE - EDINBURGH

To Scotland and the Garden of Cosmic Speculation. This 20th C. garden was designed by Charles Jenks. Travel on to our luxurious hotel overlooking Edinburgh Castle.

DAY 14 SAT 15 JULEDINBURGH

We’re off to discover Edinburgh. First up is a gentle walking tour of the old city, then time for coffee in

the Royal Botanic Gardens. See their significant collection of Chinese plants, the Heather and the Alpine Gardens. Free afternoon. Maybe a peek inside Edinburgh Castle?

DAY 15 SUN 16 JULEDINBURGH

To a small garden in the historic village of Inveresk, with colourful borders and a collection of old garden roses selected by Graham Thomas. Edinburgh’s New Town is a World Heritage site, the best-preserved example of Georgian architecture in the UK.

DAY 16 MON 17 JULEDINBURGH - DRUMMOND CASTLE

To Perthshire and the Firth of Forth to visit one of Scotland’s finest gardens, Drummond Castle. It’s breathtaking with the best view from the terrace; it’s worth the climb! Kinross House is next, a neoclassical Palladian mansion built by Sir William Bruce on Loch Leven.

DAY 17 TUE 18 JULEDINBURGH - HOME

Morning free then afternoon transfer to airport for the flight home.
