Wy are we maing canges? The changes will make it easier for you to recycle more from home. The new service means you will have more space for recycling andsend less to landfill. The Scottish Government has set a challengingtarget to recycle 70% of household waste by 2025.

We already recycle 40% of Edinburghs waste, but we need to startrecycling more.

Wat d I d if I dnt ave enug space t stre mybins? If you are concerned about storage space please contact us. Wecan arrange a home visit with one of our recycling advisors todiscuss other options available and provide recycling advice.

    Wat d I d if I tin I need a bigger bin fr my

genera waste? If you are struggling with the size of your new bin please contactus. We can arrange a home visit with one of our recycling advisorsto discuss other options available and provide recycling advice.

Some people may be eligible for a larger bin (eg large families orthose with a medical condition). Contact us to discuss this further.

FrequentlyWat d I d if I ave extra waste tat wnt t in mybins? If you have extra waste or recycling you can take it, free ofcharge, to one of Edinburghs three community recycling centres at

Sighthill, Seafield or Craigmillar. You can also recycle more typesof materials at these centres such as large electrical items, metal, furniture and paint.

D I need t cean my green bin befre it is used as myrecycing bin?No. You do not have to clean it before you start using it forrecycling, as the cleanliness of your bin doesnt impact on thematerials being recycled. After a few uses you will also find that itis generally much cleaner as any loose dirt is tipped away.

Wi te assisted cectin service sti be avaiabe? If you currently use our assisted collection service you will continueto receive this when the new service starts. Please see your newcollection calendar to find out if your collection day has changed.

I ive in a at and ave a weeie bin and/r recycingbxes. hw am I affected? If you live in a block of flats and use individual wheelie bins and/or kerbside recycling boxes we will review your property on a caseby case basis. It may not be possible for each property to have awheelie bin and we may look at options for sharing bins.

Those who use shared communal bins will not be affected by thesechanges.
