she was the first women in Western in Australia to have a seat in parliament. She married at the age of eighteen to a man named

James Cowan they had five kids four daughters and one son.

she was the first women in Western in Australia to have a seat in parliament. She married at the age of eighteen to a man named

Some of the memories of her today include a clock tower entrance in Kings Park in Perth and her portrait is printed on the $50 bill. Also Edith Cowan University is named after her in Western Australia. There are two campuses, one in Joondalup

and one in Mount Lawley
