EDITINGA Fred Perry Subculture Film

Page 2: Editing

This is a modern worldIn this particular documentary, the use of old footage has been edited into the show to show a scene from the 1960’s when mod culture was significant. It shows what it entailed to be a mod, who it involved and how they dressed and acted.Over the top of old footage music was edited over and so were voice overs, in order to explain o r exaggerate the stories and what we as an audience were viewing.

Born To Be WildIn the documentary, also based on Fred Perry subculture, Born to be Wild, the editing consists of text and credits being written over the screen. This particular screenshot shows the title of headlines that existed around this time, as this new culture was beginning, and was being called “the new teenagers” in which many older people didn’t recognise. Resulting in them being referred to as “From out of Space”.

This is a Modern WorldSimilarly, in “This is a Modern World” text has also been edited on the screen as well as a series of images and shapes that move and become the Fred Perry logo. This is a well recognisable logo and helps trademark the film, as well as making it seem a reliable source of information

Why its Key Editing is important in a way as it makes the documentary or film seem more

interesting. When creating my own documentary, I want to include certain aspects, such as

credits to make it seem more official and professional. I would also edit the Title of my documentary onto the opening if that’s where I

choose to start from, and possibly edit the logo of my institution into the corner.
