You will also need to let me know and send your money ASAP. Due to limited bus space, only 1- 2 parents will be allowed to accompany us on each trip. To be fair and let all parents be part of a trip if they wish, parents will only be allowed to come on 1 or 2 trips. The first parents to let me know which trips they want to attend will be the first allowed on that trip. Monday Reading : Read for 20 minutes. Readers can read fiction books and learn about their characters. Readers learn about their characters by stopping and thinking “who are the characters in my book?” and “what are the characters doing in the book (actions)? If you don’t know, you need to go back and reread. Writing: Writers write Nonfiction books to teach others. Tonight, think about something you know a lot about (i.e. bears, dogs, plants, games, holidays, etc.) Think of your idea and complete your title page and your introduction page. Math : Worksheet. Complete the daily math review below. Social Studies: Worksheet Homework is required every night. Please check your child’s Take Home folder everyday and sign your child’s homework, Reading Log, and behavior note (when necessary). Reading : Read for 20 minutes. Readers stop every few pages and think about how their character feels and why they feel that way. Tonight, tell an adult about how your character feels and why they feel that way. Show them in your book!

Writing : Writers of nonfiction books think about what they can teach their reader about in different chapter. Think about what you can teach (what they look like, how they move, where they live, what they do, etc.). Tonight, write your table of contents and chapter 1.

Wednesday Reading : Read for 20 minutes. Fill out your reading log. Readers use all their word

detective skills to help them solve tricky words. Remember to check the picture; look for parts you know, and think about what word would make sense in the sentence.

Writing: Writers of nonfiction books can write more chapters and a conclusions page. Tonight, write 3 more chapters. Try to write at least 2 or 3 sentences per chapter!

Reading : Read for 20 minutes. Fill out your reading log. Readers do something at the end of their book. Readers can reread the book or retell the book by saying what happened in the beginning, middle and end. Make sure you tell about what the character did and how they felt.

Writing : Writers of nonfiction books write a conclusion page to remind their readers about what they learned about.

Friday Reading : Read for 20 minutes. Fill out your reading log. Reading packet. Writing : Writers of nonfiction books edit their work by rereading it to make sure what

they wrote makes sense. If it doesn’t, they go back and fix it. Writers also go back to make sure their sentences start with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark.

Science : Worksheet Math : Worksheet. Complete the Problem of the Day on the next page.
