Definition: Taking into

consideration all factors when designing something so that is it usable by all people with different backgrounds and abilities

Main Purposes of Universal Design

Curriculum should no longer be designed with only the average learner in mind No such thing as

average Mainstream

curriculum underserves struggling students as well as gifted students

With universal design EVERYONE SHOULD BE A SUCCESSFUL LEARNER

They must be designed to be universal from the beginning Choices Pathways Presenting things

in different ways
