• Ensurethevideorecordingequipmentyouhaveisuptothetask.Tobesure,doashorttestrecordingonlocationaheadoftime.

• Ensureyourrecordingdevicehasenoughavailablestoragespacefortherecording.Thismayrequireyoutoarchiveexistingvideoorphotostofreeupspace.

• Recommendedrecordingdevicesinclude:alaptopwithbuilt-inwebcamera,amobilerecordingdevicesuchasaniPhoneorAndroidphoneortablet,oracamerawithvideorecordingcapability.

• Adjustthelightingintheroomifnecessary,andcarefullyconsidertheoptimalplacementoftherecordingdevice.

• Useadesktopstandortripodwithappropriatemountingadaptertoensureadequateframingofyourvideo.

Step1:StartMovieMaker.Step2:ClicktheWebcamVideooption.

Thescreenwillchangeandyoushouldseealiveimagefromthewebcam.ClickingtheRecordbuttonbeginsrecordingvideo.ClickingtheCancelbuttonreturnsyoutothemaininterface.ClickingtheStopbuttonstopsarecordinginprogress.Note:

• Thecurrentrecordtimeisshowninthelowerrightcornerofthewindow.

• Thethumbnail-sizedmovieclipiconontherightsideofthescreenrepresentsthecurrentrecording,orclip.Draggingtheblackverticallineleftorrightacrossthefilmimageofthethumbnailiconscrubsplayback,toallowyoutoquicklyperusethecontent.

ImportingaVideoClipYoucanimportpreexistingvideofilesintoMovieMaker.FilesrecordedfromiOSorAndroidmobiledevicesshouldbereadilyimportableintoMovieMaker.RecordingsfromvideocamerasStep1:StartMovieMaker.Step2:ClicktheAddvideosandphotosbutton.

Youwillseeafilerequestwindowthatwillaskyoutochooseafiletoopen.Clickavideofile,thenclicktheOpenbutton.

Note:Dependingonthelengthofthevideo,youmayneedtowaitseveralminutesforthevideotobeprocessed.

Whenthevideoclipisimportedyouwillseeapreviewarea,aswellasathumbnailarea.Thethumbnail-sizedmovieclipiconontherightsideofthescreenrepresentsthecurrentrecording,orclip.Draggingtheblackverticallineleftorrightacrossthefilmimageofthethumbnailiconscrubsplayback,toallowyoutoquicklyperusethecontent.Inthepreviewareayouwillseeseveralcontrolsbelowthevideopreview,andaplayheadcontrolonahorizontaltrack,allowingyoutochoosethecurrentplaybackframe.EditingaVideoClipYoucanimportpreexistingvideofilesintoMovieMaker.FilesrecordedfromiOSorAndroidmobiledevicesshouldbereadilyimportableintoMovieMaker.RecordingsfromvideocamerasStep1:Makesureyouhaverecordedavideoclip,orhaveaimportedaclip.ClicktheEdittabvideotoolnearthetoprightareaofthescreen.

Youwillseerectangulartrim“handles”oneithersideoftheplaybackbar.Movingeitherofthetrimhandleswillchangethestartandendpointsofthevideo.Step2:Trimyourvideotothedesiredstartandendpointsusingthehandles,orbynumericallytypingthetimepointsintheSetstartpointorSetendpointfields.

Step3:ClicktheSaveTrimbuttontosaveanychangestothestartorendpointsofthevideo.

Youshouldnowbereadytoexportyourvideo.ExportingVideoMovieMakersupportsavarietyofvideofileformats.Youwillneedtochoosetheoptionthatbestsuitsyourneeds.ForedTPAvideopurposestheForemailoptionisusuallybest.However,thereisnoharmintryingotherformatsandsettingstoseewhichproducestheresultsyouwant.

Note:Thesinglegreatestlimitationisthatyourfinalexportedvideomustbenolongerthan100MBinsize,whichisthefilesizelimitforuploadingyourvideotoTk20andPearson.Step1:ClicktheSavemoviebuttoninthemaininterface.

Step2:Fromthedrop-downmenuchooseForemail.Theexportingprocessrequiresallofthevideodatatobeconverted.Dependingonthesizeofthevideoandtheexportsettings,thetaskcansometimestakeseveralminutes,orlongerforthecomputertorender.

WhentheexportingprocessiscompleteMovieMakerwillletyouknowtheprocessedvideoisreadyforplayback.NotetoothatyoushouldnameyourexportedvideoaccordingtotheLastName_Lesson#convention,tofollowedTPAguidelines.

MovieMakerProjectsMovieMakerallowsyoutosavewhatiscalledaproject.Aprojectfileincludesallvideoclipsyouhaveimported,theireditsettings,aswellastheexportsettingsyoulastusedwhenyouexportedvideo.Itishandytosavetheprojectfiletosimplifydoingadditionalworklater.TosaveyourMovieMakerprojectfile,refertothescreenimagebelowandnameyourprojectaccordingly.

Note:Ifyouplantomoveyourvideoprojecttoanothermachine,besuretocreateafolderthatincludesallofthevideofiles,aswellastheMovieMakerproject.ThiswillhelpensurethatallnecessaryfileresourcesareavailablewhenyouopentheprojectfileinMovieMaker.

ArchivingYourVideoorProjectFilestoOffice365Youwillneedasecureplacetostoreyourvideo,untilyouarereadytouploadittoTk20andPearson.YourbestoptionforthisasaUOstudentisOffice365,whichisfreetouse,andsecure.ToaccessyourOffice365account:

1. Gotohttp://office.uoregon.eduinawebbrowser.2. SigninwithyourUOemailaddressandpassword.3. ClicktheOneDriveicon.

4. ClicktheUploadbutton,ordragyourvideo,orvideoprojectfilesintotheOneDrivewindow.

OnetheuploadiscompleteyourfileswillbestoredonOneDrive.Notethatthemaximumsinglefileuploadsizeis2GB,butthisshouldbeampleforedTPAvideorequirements.
