Field experiences are vital tools in which you will participate and experience the authentic applications of your coursework. Level 2 (tutoring students) experiences are especially valuable.
Case study requires 10 clock hours of teaching/tutoring a single student.
Overview

Your case study is an experience where you will select and teach/tutor a single student.
The student must be representative of the certification you are pursuing. That is, you must select a high school-aged student if you are pursuing secondary teacher certification.

The student may not be: A member of your immediate family Of an age outside your certification area Someone you currently teach or tutor
The student may be: A friend’s child A child you have not taught but know
you will next school year

Race, gender, ethnicity, achievement levels, special needs, learning styles, learning patterns, etc.

Select any topics relevant to your certification area to teach the student
Total clock hours must equal 10

Collect one student artifact per session
Must reflect student learning during session
If not digital, scan artifact or take digital photo of it to submit

Illustrate student growth by referencing specific sessions and artifacts
Relate your experience and student learning to topics in EDUC 5600
Cite textbook, course activities, ATLAS observations, etc.
Summary reflects entire 10-hour experience

throughout the 10 hours Anecdotal comments on student
engagement/interest and how it was addressed
Theories, concepts, practices, etc. learned in course that were used or noticed
Lessons learned (what you expected versus what happened)
