INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

EDUCATION TODAY• Today’s education system in india is

challenging but needs some more changes.

• The education system in india put more emphasis on the theoretical knowledge than the practical.

• The quality of education must be improved rather than quantity.

EDUCATION TODAY-KILLING CREATIVITY

• Present education system only deals with the ‘Gyan’ between the two covers of the book only.

• Knowing or unknowingly, other extra curricular activities like dance, sorts, arts, painting, music have been buried under the coffin-partially or totally.

CHALLENGES IN PRESENT EDUCATION SYSTEM• Lack of will to learn in youth: because they are

unable to adjust for long periods in classroom, the ability of teachers to inspire students is decreasing day by day. Because of this, people are becoming bookish knowledge in present education system.

• Quality of teaching: The very recent graduates are appointed as teachers which affect a lot, this is all done because the managements can reduce their burdens of spending money for experienced ones.

• Reservations: There should be no difference between the forward caste and the backward caste the students should be rated with the amount of knowledge they have. There are reservations for govt. jobs also, if a backward caste student just passes his graduation, it is more than sufficient to get that govt. job.

• Infrastructure: The infrastructure provided today in any college is not that sufficient as it should be. In govt. schools there are no proper classrooms, efficient staff etc etc.

WHAT WE HAVE TO DO TO CHANGE TODAY’S EDUCATION SYSTEM• Focus on skill based education.• Reward creativity, original thinking,

research and innovation.• Implement massive technology

infrastructure for education.• Get smarter people to teach.• Make reservation irrelevant.• Re-define the purpose of the

education system.

RASHTRIYA UCHCHATAR SHIKSHA ABHIYAN• Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan

(RUSA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013 aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions. The central funding (in the ratio of 65:35 for general category States and 90:10 for special category states) would be norm based and outcome dependent. The funding would flow from the central ministry through the state governments/union territories to the State Higher Education Councils before reaching the identified institutions. The funding to states would be made on the basis of critical appraisal of State Higher Education Plans, which would describe each state’s strategy to address issues of equity, access and excellence in higher education.
