Requirements for Certification of Excellence

1. Core curriculum at PAS over 3 yrs2. Mentored project3. Educator Portfolio4. 6 Intersession Modules (2/yr)5. 2 workshop reviews at PAS (or equivalent

meeting) in first year6. Final requirement for certification:

Peer-reviewed paper or presentation on your project at a national meeting (workshop, platform, or poster)

If you have trouble with requirements

Behind on assignments

• Negotiate alternative schedule in advance• Options: Extra year(s) to graduate, leave of absence, switch cohorts• Don’t just cut communications, PLEASE!

Project not working out

• Get advice• Switch to a new project (with approval)

Can’t attend a PAS meeting

• Negotiate alternative plan in advance• Do workshop reviews at other meetings

Didn’t do ISM • Some short term makeup options; otherwise, repeat ISM with another cohort

Changed institution

• Plan in advance—is leave needed?• Negotiate 10% time with new boss• Tell the boss: NO new fees!• Consider if project is transferrable
