Bonjour !
Our French Day this year will be held on
Friday 23rd September (Term 3,
Week 9) The whole school can be in-
volved in these ways:
French Lunch – Ham and cheese ba-
guettes will be available to order for $4.
Orders must be received at the
bookroom no later than Monday 19th
September (next week). Order forms will
be sent out with children. Spare forms will
also be available at the bookroom.
dress in
French theme on the day. This may be
simply wearing any combination of the
French colours, blue, white and red (bleu,
blanc, rouge). It doesn’t have to be all
three. If they prefer, children may like to dress as a typical French character.
French Assembly – you are invited to attend the whole school assembly which will show-
case some work done in class as well as highlights of the French Day activities, such as a
fashion parade.
What to wear?!! Possibilities include famous monuments, frogs, snails, poodles, baguettes,
musketeers, artists, ballet dancers, fashion designers, Nicolas Baudin, the explorer, Asterix or
Ratatouille characters, Tintin, Smurf, the Little Prince, Madeline, T’choupi, Barbapapa,
chefs, characters from French fairy tales first written by Charles Perrault, such as Red Riding
Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, Cinderella and Bluebeard. A simple beret or striped t-
shirt and scarf can make a French outfit.
Our recent connections with Reunion Island,
a French department off the coast of Africa,
allow for a new range of dress-ups : chame-
leon, dodo bird, volcano, tropical fruits and
island dancers. Perhaps a Renault car or a
bottle of French perfume?
It is always a very colourful day. Merci. Madame Lyn Empen

The Energetic Educators
On the 1st of September Liza, Terri, Miss Hatzi and Miss Weber began taking
on the challenge of completing 10,000 steps a day each for the entire month
of September.
UPDATE! They are now half-way through and have
so far walked 543,606 steps to raise vital funds for
the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. They have a fundrais-
ing target of $1,000 and so far they have raised
$250, can you help them to achieve their target?
You can donate to our fundraising page: (http://
bit.ly/2bT3lQw) or leave a donation at the front
office in the donation tin.
Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disabil-
ity in childhood. One in two people with cerebral
palsy are in chronic pain due to the tightening of
their muscles. Many will never be able to take a sin-
gle step without assistance.
Any amount you contribute would make a huge difference to children and
adults living with cerebral palsy.
Thank you so much,
P.S. You’ll receive an automated
receipt (if you donate online) as
every donation over $2 is tax
deductible.

it was going to be tough but I
had to make it for Steve and for
