I would like to welcome you all to this UK Trade & Investment Green and Sustainable Buildings trade mission to Seoul.

The UK has an unrivalled reputation for low carbon design, planning and construction. UK companies are at the forefront of bringing new technologies and techniques to market, to help build green and sustainable cities throughout the world. UK companies were heavily involved in the master planning of Masdar in the United Arab Emirates. One of the UK's best examples of low carbon development is the retail and residential project at North Greenwich in London, which is home to the O2 Centre- designed by Lord Rogers.

All of the companies on this mission are experts in their own right in their chosen field. They are at the forefront of green design and incorporate the latest green technologies in their work.

We also look forward to the EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to come in to force on 1 July 2011. We know that the FTA will radically change the way we trade with Korea with 97% of all tariffs eliminated within three year. There has never been a better time to do business in Korea.
