McDonalds

• Ray Kroc founded McDonalds in 1955, and bye 1958, it has sold 100 million hamburgers

• He had this idea to make McDonalds all over the U.S.

• He wanted to serve burgers, fries, and shakes, and he wanted them to taste the same every state

Burger King

• First founded by James Mclamore and David Edgerton in 1954

• First restaraunt was created in Miami, Florida and was called “Insta Burger King” because they wanted people to see that the food was done fast

Sonic

• Created in 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma• Goal was to create fast food and personal

service (food being brought to the car for the customer)

Arby’s

• Founded in Boardman, Ohio in 1954• Goal was too offer something other than

hamburgers, but they wanted to still offer the fast service

• The Raffel Brothers created Arby’s and decided to serve roast beef sandwiches

• Opened in 1946, known as “Bell’s Drive In”• He began selling taco’s but then thought of

selling the taco’s in bigger amounts rather than making one individually which was what started the fast food aspect of it

• Founded in the 1940’s by Truett Cathy in Atlanta, Georgia

• Chick fil-A stands out though, its sells all chicken, rather than beef, which is usually healthier than beef

Wendy’s

• Dave Thomas met Phil Clauss and was offered a deal bring 4 “Kentucky Fried Chicken’s” out of debt and he did

• He then opened the first Wendy’s in Columbus Ohio in 1969

• The restaurant was known for it’s old fashioned hamburgers

• Colonal Harland Sanders goes on the road to sell his secret recipe chicken

• When people started liking the chicken, he started making more buildings and selling chicken by the buckets (literally)

• His chicken is famous for 11 herbs and spices, and 0 trans fat.

Morgan Spurlock

• Morgan Spurlock was the man who made the documentary about eating McDonalds for 30 days, and everytime they asked if he would like it supersized he would say yes

• At the end of the 30 days he gained 25 pounds, suffered from liver dysfunction, and depression

• It took him fourteen months to return to his starting weight, and only did so by his wife’s “detox diet”

• High amount of sodium leading to high blood pressure

• Cholesterol in meat recipes can cause high cholesterol

• Fast Food can cause obesity, heart attacks, hypertension, and food poisoning.
