Our Process of Identifying Material Aspects

A laundry list of material issues was prepared by KPMG in consultation with the senior

were; media reporting, internal review, external peer review, sector specific standards and

The internal and external stakeholders ranked the material issues on a scale of 1 – 6 (where 1;

very low, 2: low, 3: medium; 4: high, 5: very high and 6 is not applicable) based on the impact

and importance of the material issue for Siddheshwar. The local community’s feedback on

Managing Our Environmental

Footprint

Management Approach

The environmental management at Siddheshwar Forgings adheres to complying with

environment friendly policies. Our business processes requires consumption of natural resources

as raw material for manufacturing automotive components as well as for using energy in all

the operations including manufacturing and transportation of goods to the customer.

While the global demand for engineered automotive components and vehicle parts is

constantly increasing with the ever-growing automobile sector, it is also indicating an

increased use of natural resources for the production of the same. This demand is expected

to only increase at a prolific rate in the future.

We realize that these resources are shrinking and therefore the need of the hour is to utilize

them as efficiently as possible and reduce the wastage to the maximum extent possible.

To reduce the environmental footprint in our operations, we are in the process of taking

measures for improving the efficiency of our processes and using the energy resources

optimally. We ensure that our operations do not incur any negative impact on our surrounding

biodiversity.

Energy Consumption

Our efforts in energy management focus on an integrated approach which entails all the steps

in the value chain – from transportation of raw materials to the plant, to the production of

automotive components at a single site and further the dispatch of the final products to our

customers. This seamlessly coordinated production chain and the concentration of expertise,

provide an excellent basis for symbolizing product characteristics while at the same time

reduces energy and resource consumption.

Creating a Better Workplace

Our Management Approach

We believe that Inclusion and empowerment of Human resources in the organization makes

them more creative and productive. Also due emphasis needs to be laid on understanding

the employees’ concerns and their expectations to enhance their efficiency levels. We aim to

continuously improve our employee engagement schemes so as to provide our workforce with

a conducive work atmosphere and also look towards developing further strategies towards

the overall development of our employees.

A skilled, committed, knowledgeable and enthusiastic workforce has always been the priority

at Siddheshwar Forging. We also believe that having the correct balance of right talent and

skills will prove to be a key success factor and shall also be an important parameter in defining

our sustainable growth trajectory.

We have always maintained the fact that each of our employee should get equal

opportunities to enhance their skills, which is why they are provided with a number of training

and learning sessions which help them increase their skills in their area of expertise. Also to keep

our professionals abreast of market trends & technological advancements, we arrange a

number of interactive and learning sessions for them.

We believe that good safety is good business which helps sustain world-class business

performance. Safety principles provide direction and focus to our Occupational Health and

Safety program for achieving and sustaining safety excellence. Siddheshwar Forgings strives to

provide safe place to work, ensures that all the machinery, tools, plant, equipment and

appliances are well designed, operated and maintained in a safe condition. Considering the

type of production and manufacturing processes that are carried out at our organization,

ensuring the occupational health and safety of the workforce in the firm is also of utmost

importance. Various control systems and devices, O&M systems, compliance audits,

inspection and maintenance, safety equipment, risk management should thus form an integral

part of our sustainability strategy.

Also, taking into account the issues related to workforce/ labor as well as the concerns

regarding various human rights at the workplace is of utmost priority for us as our employees

are major contributors to our growth and success.

The impacts of our products and services during their use phase and also at the end of the

product life are of significance. Also, as we customize our products according to the

specifications given by the customers, it becomes important to take more proactive

approaches of assessing the impacts of our products and services. Being a quality conscious

organization; we strive hard for achieving the highest standard of the quality in each product.

We believe in ensuring compliance to indicate confirmation to performance parameters and

also reduce financial risks.

Employee Engagement

Growth and success of any organization is because of technology adaption and innovation,

which is implemented by employees. The employees are the ones who not only create and

deliver the products or services to our customers, but are also our company’s face in front of

the customers. Hence our employees are our most valuable resource and significant

contributors to our success.

We regularly engage our employees by conducting regular meetings, to understand their

concerns and provide resolutions by arranging various trainings and employee events. . In

case of any concerns arising during any of the engagement sessions we make sure to resolve

it at the earliest and also take care not to have a repeat of it ever again. During this year we

Page 21: Efficiency Through Innovation - …...This report is based on Global Reporting Initiative’s G4 (Core) guidelines on sustainability reporting and serves as our communication to the

did not receive any grievance from our employees which encourages us to maintain a

concern free work in future as well.

We celebrate various festivals and organize various events for our employees in order to

engage them with us not only through work but through a cultural bond.

Employee Training and Development

We are committed towards employee development by providing adequate opportunities to

them by providing training and learning sessions and thereby help them develop the required

competencies and polish their skills to the best.

It is very important to update our employees with the current market trends to help them cope

up with the ever changing customer demands and conform to global standards. This helps the

Page 22: Efficiency Through Innovation - …...This report is based on Global Reporting Initiative’s G4 (Core) guidelines on sustainability reporting and serves as our communication to the

21

employees to enhance their knowledge and in turn improve the company’s overall

performance. A performance review is done during regular meetings and feedback is

provided to the employees on their performance.

We provide various training sessions to our employees like:

Housekeeping

Quality

Machine operation training

As this is our first Sustainability reporting journey we did not have systems in place to monitor

the training data. Going forward we would implement systems to monitor the data.

Occupational Health and Safety

We believe that good safety is good business which helps sustain world-class business

performance. At Siddheshwar Forgings safety principles provide direction and focus to our

Occupational Health and Safety program for achieving and sustaining safety excellence

Any manufacturing company faces issues related to workmen safety. Hence, it becomes a

necessity to provide a healthy and safe working environment and also form strategies related

to assisting workforce members or their families regarding such hazards and risks etc.

In FY 2014-15 we did not encounter any case of reported injuries, occupational diseases and

fatality which makes us believe that the zero injury target is achievable and make us feel

satisfied that we are not lacking in our approach towards health and safety of our employees.

In order to implement safety practices we encourage the usage of Personal Protective

Equipment’s among the employees by conducting workshops through external agencies.

We have also worked on considering safety usage of devices and hence installed safety

guards.
