Any patient wishes from the sanitary service the following/as it follows:
Our Firm and its Characteristics
Tools: Five S
1. Sort the useful from the useless 3. Clean, wash and sterilize
2. Set in order, a place for everything and everything at its place
4. Standardize (regular flow of the previous three points)
5. Discipline intended to sustain over time the previous four points.
Tools: S.M.E.D
The Dental Surgery firm, moreover, uses the S.M.E.D. technique (Single Minute Exchange of Die) that has the objective to reduce the set-up times to allow a different production characterized by a few lots which follow the pull method.
Basically, in an entire set-up project, the objective is to contain the time of“machine-stop”
Tools: Muda
The minimizations of Mudas (any kind of waste), is guaranteed by the simple help of operating tools like job descriptions and briefings of the Dental Surgery.
Tools: The Kaizen philosophy
Following the principles of the Lean Organization the Dental Surgery uses the Kaizen philosophy. As it is well known, this approach helps to reduce the business’ wastes in every form and requires a permanent and continuous huge improvement (machines, tools, works and methods), followed by a strong motivation of the staff.
Tools: T.P.M. Another tool we use is the Total Productive Maintenance. This is one of the main pillars of the Lean philosophy, and identifies a management technique of the systems that is not limited to preserve its efficiency but that leads to a productivity rise of the pillars. With the term “Full/Total” we mean a huge involvement of the staff (coming from every business functions) in the implication of activities.

Optimization of the yield per hour of an associate dentist
In managing of dental surgery is important to optimize working scheduling in processing therapies. The following charts represent the outputs after the modifications in managing of working hours and in delegating cost-effective therapies, after the application of Lean philosophy.
YEAR 2012 PROFIT YIELDING-CHART PER HOUR IN THE FIRST SEMESTER Worked Hours 633 Medium Yield per hour 126.19
YEAR 2013 PROFIT YIELDING-CHART PER HOUR IN THE FIRST SEMESTER Worked Hours 606 Medium Yield per hour 145.93
Tools
Optimization of the yield per hour of an associate dentist
Comparing semesters, production is increased of about 8,000 euros, with minus 27 worked hours in the total amount of the semester. Increasing is given by a yield per hour of 20 euros more, worked per hour in the period. As you can infer in the chart, the production of the hygiene category has diminished of about 22,000 euros, delegating such category to another member of the team, a dental hygienist. We have optimized the timing of the dental surgeon member of the team, increasing the work of other more profitable dental categories.

The Main Results after the usage of the Lean Organization and the Final Reflections
The main results can be seen in the following:
1. reduction in timing or preparation and reorganization and tidying 2. reduction in timing of factual work 3. reduction in using materials 4. reduction and optimization in programmed supplies and orders 5. correct payment following base-price list 6. optimization and training human resources 7. reduction waiting-times both for patient and for appointments and waiting room 8. optimization therapy scheduling and reduction of appointments 9. increasing qualities of work done and professional service (last, but not least)
