EFI ES-2000 Spectrophotometer

What’s New

The new EFI™ ES-2000 spectrophotometer is the most accurate, versatile and reliable profiling device available today. The new ES-2000 has been enhanced and redesigned to provide the ultimate in accuracy, versatility, ergonomics, functionality and value.

Built on the success of the EFI ES-1000 spectrophotometer as the de-facto industry standard for many years, the ES-2000 features the next generation of industry-leading EFI technology to deliver increased accuracy and ease of use.

New Illumination DesignAllows for 3 standard measurement conditions:

ISO 13655 M0: Standard Illuminant A•

ISO 13655 M1: D50•

ISO 13655 M2: UV Cut•

Offers UV-cut and Non-UV-cut Measurements in a

Single Unit

Now users can predict what colors printed on optically •brightened paper will look like under both standard and specific-light conditions using a single hand-held device.

Users don’t need to worry about what instrument to buy; •they can profile any paper they with one instrument.

Positioning Detection Sensor

Provides a more robust scanning experience, ease of use •and error-free patch scanning.

Allows the user to scan the patches at their own pace, •eliminating scanning errors due to inconsistencies in the speed and motion.

Determines the location of each patch and allows the •measurement of smaller patches down to 7mm (instead of the previous requirement of 10mm).

Fits more patches per chart and uses smaller process •control wedges to gain even more data points per sheet.

New Status LED

Lights guide users through the measurement process and •provide feedback on the device status.

Improves the user experience and saves time. •

New Design Ergonomics Throughout

Allows for greater usability and flexibility. •

Makes cleaning easier.•

Provides better protection, and simplified storage of the •precision ES-2000 device.

Improved Emissive Measurement

Allows for better temperature stability and higher •brightness levels.

Results in the best possible calibration and profiling •of monitors.

All New Diagnostics and Self-Correction Features

Built-in wavelength calibration technology allows for •self-diagnosis of optical grating in relation to sensor during white calibration, with automatic correction and notifications.

Eliminates worry about measurement accuracy.•

Maintaining and Protecting the Device

Self-cleanable aperture-protection glass and white-tile •calibration cover provides additional built-in protection from dust and dirt.

Keeps device working at top performance at all times.•

ES-2000 vs ES-1000 Comparison Table ES-2000 ES-1000

Measurement Illumination Conditions

M0 (ISO 13655-2009) Tungsten (No Filter)

Single hand-held device accommodates multiple measurement conditions, meeting current and emerging ISO standards for imaging workflows.

O1

M1 (ISO 13655-2009) D50

M2 (ISO 13655-2009) UV excluded (UV-cut) O1

Reflectance Measurement

Minimal patch size: •Scanmeasurement •Spotmeasurement

Smaller patch sizes when scanning allows for more patches per chart, use of smaller process control wedges and more data points per sheet – resulting in higher profile accuracy and faster measurements.

7mm 4.5mm

10mm 4.5mm

Filterless dual-scan measurement technology Provides multiple measurement conditions through the combination of the device’s two light sources (tungsten and UV LED).

• Patch detection based on color differences between patches

• Positioning detection sensor

Enables more robust scanning, even on critical substrates or low-resolution prints, removing virtually all user errors, requir-ing less operator skills. Able to measure M1 and M2 conditions.

Full floating guide rail for optimized sample to instru-ment distance

Maintaining an equal measurement distance from substrate to instrument nose provides more accurate measurements – especially on uneven substrates like corrugated board.

Aluminum ruler with improved solvent ink resistance Higher scanning measurement speed allows for use of smaller patches and more data points per patch, resulting in higher profile accuracy and faster measurements.

200 200 Rev B-D

100 Rev A

Emissive Measurement

Measurement range on typical LCD display (cd/m²) Supports LCD displays with high luminance backlight technology. 0.2 - 1200 0.2 - 300

Sensor with enhanced temperature drift compensation

Best possible performance in display and projector profiling – avoid drift due to temperature change of the device during longer display measurement cycles.

Adaptive integration time based on patch luminance Reduces noise for more accurate measurements on dark patches. Accuracy and Reliability

Built-in wavelength calibration technology Instrument can automatically self diagnose and correct for small shifts as well as identify recalibration needs.

White calibration tile protection Larger white-tile area ensures measurement accuracy and makes cleaning very easy. Protective cover minimizes dust and dirt interference.

Cleanable optics protection glass Removable optics protection glass makes it easy for user to clean, minimizing dust and dirt interference. Status LED displays instrument calibration / service status

Visual indicators for calibration and service status of the device.

Power-check for USB port Monitors power from the USB port to ensure that adequate power for the spectrophoto eter. Usability and Accessories

Extruded aluminum frame with mechanical interface for accessories

Improved temperature stability – the aluminum frame works as heat sink providing best possible performance in display and projector profiling. Adds a stable connection between instrument and accessories.

User guidance with status LED Visual indicators guide the user through the measurement process and indicate the status of the device. Compatibility mode to work with software developed for original ES-1000

Confidently use your ES-2000 device in compatibility mode for M0, with any software that supports the original first-generation ES-1000 spectrophotometer. Offers the same functions you previously had access to.

Support for automated i1iO scanning table i1iO second generation includes new footplate to fit both ES-2000 and first-generation devices. i1iO first-generation owners can have table retrofitted for new ES-2000 device.

Monitor holderNew mechanical interface for easy instrument connectivity. Beam holder has removable base plate for direct tripod mount.

Digital beamer (projector) holder Ruler and back-up board Removable aluminum ruler makes it easy to measure media wedges. The back-up board provides a white background and

holds test charts in place for scanning.

Carry case Redesigned to fit the new device and accessories, keeping all components secure and safe. New case is more ergonomic to carry when you want to take your ES-2000 on the road.
