WHAT IS FREE ZONE?

Free zones are defined as special sites within the country but deemed to be outside of the customs borders and they are the regions where the valid regulations to foreing trade and other financial and economic laws are not applicable.

Free zones are also the regions where more convenient business climate is offered in order to increase trade volume and export for industrial and commercial activities as compared to the other parts of country


WHAT IS FREE ZONE?

The free zones in Turkey were founded by the Free Zones Law No:3218 which came into effect in June 15, 1985. There are about 1300 free zones in the world and %15 of the world trade is made from free zones. Trade volume of the Turkish Free Zones reached about 13% of Turkey’s foreign trade.

TYPES OF FREE ZONES IN TURKEY

Semi-Private Free ZonesIn these free zones, the land is owned by state and operator company can rent places and operate the zone.

Private Free Zones In these free zones, the land is owned by the operator company and along with the operation of the zone, operator company can sell places to it’s investors. EFZ is a private free zone and operated by Sahinler Holding, which is one of the most reputable and reliable companies in Turkey.

Manufacturer companies are 100% exempt from Corporate Tax (Corporate tax rate in Turkey is 20%) 100% exemption from Custom Duties and other sort of duties

Transactions are made with convertible foreign currencies.

The goods in free circulation can be sent to Turkey or to the EU countries from the free zone without any customs duty payment. Moreover, no customs duty is applied on the goods of third country origin at the enterance into the free zone and exit to the third countries

Low construction costs (Exempt from VAT). Construction permissions are taken from EFZ Directorate and companies do not deal with Municipality or Governorship.



Easy and fast customs operations. There are no import or export procedures for the free zone companies.

Long term exemptions (10 to 30 years – can be renewed up to 99 years) and sales to domestic market is allowed

Free entrance of second hand machines

Application process is easy and fast – you can start operating in the free zone within 2 weeks. Local and foreign firms are treated alike.

Authorizations concerning price, quality, and standards, granted to public institutions and organizations, are not applicable in free zone.
