“Holy Grounds,” A Family Night Café:

Questions Answered!

Who: East Glenville Community Church adults, teens, kids, families What: An evening of memorable performances; music and drama, snacks and fellowship Where: Our own Buchanan Hall When: Friday night March 1st, beginning at 7pm Why: It will be fun! Well…it’s also great when the family of God gets together to share their gifts AND celebrate the creativity of others.

This has been a fun and popular event for our church, so you will want to sign up your act early! Be creative! Entertaining ideas could include a comedy routine, a piano solo, a dramatic reading, a vocal duet, skit, or family band! Please sign up your act with Melisa Olson. If you are interested in doing some baking for “Holy Grounds” please see Brenda Mills. Lots of goodies are very appreciated! We will once again be asking our teens to practice their serving skills by waiting on tables. This is a wonderful event to share with your en-tire family! We hope to see you there!

Please remember to continue to pray for the search committee as we move forward with identifying and evaluating suitable candidates to fill the Senior Pas-tor position.

With the words, “... do this in remembrance of me,” in Luke 22:19, Jesus instructed us to participate in communion. The Chris-tian Education Board feels that it is important to include the Lord’s Supper in the spiritual training of our youth. The board is excited to announce the beginning of a four week study of the Lord’s Sup-per led by Ron and Sherri Benner. This study is primarily intended for third and fourth grade students and will take the place of their normal Sunday school curriculum. Older students are also wel-come. We ask that the students participate with a parent if possi-ble.

The study will be during Sunday school starting March 3rd. We will work from the workbook “The Lord’s Supper… Let’s Get Ready”. There will be some homework. On April 7th, the congregation will recognize the participants during service and they will celebrate communion, as the Spirit guides them. Please sign-up in advance sign-up by February 24th. Contact Ron or Sherri Benner at 399-5868 or e-mail @ [email protected].

Lose It For Life is not about dieting. It’s not

about exercising. There are no quick fixes, magic

diets, or promises of a thin body. Losing the

weight and keeping it off may have more to do

with changing what you’re thinking and feeling at

any given moment than what you’re eating or whether you’re in a

regular exercise program. Lose It For Life is about creating a life-

style of permanent weight management that emphasizes the whole

you: your spirit, mind, body and emotions. Come join us on Mon-

day, February 18th at 6:45pm - No cost!

There will be a Women's Craft Night on March 7th at 7:00. We will meet at 19 Laury Lane and work on a fun Spring craft, enjoy some treats and conversation and start planning for the future. I hope to see many of you "crafty" women on the 7th. Please RSVP to Colleen Switts at 424-9121.

During the month of March, the Community outreach team will be supporting a program called Healthy Schenectady families. This program offers home-based services to expectant and new par-ents; beginning prenatally or shortly after the baby is born until the child is 5 or enters preschool or head start. Schenectady participants are visited by Family Support Workers (FSW’s) who also promote literacy from birth. At one point this part of the program was funded and they were able to provide one book a month for each child starting at birth. The books used are cardboard books such as ABC’s, Good night Moon, The little Engine that Could etc. The community outreach team will be collecting these type books throughout the month of March. For a complete list of books, please visit the “board” above the Giving Chest in Hall of Missions. As always, we thank you for your support of our community. We look forward to expressing our “Love for the family” by providing them with a number of “new” books!

So moving forward the first Saturday of every month there will be a Men's Ministry Breakfast in Buchanan Hall; starting at 8:30 am. We will be starting things with a Men's video series put together by Family Life called Stepping Up - A Call to Courageous Manhood.
