Steampunk Egg Ornament – Steampunk has hit the Egg Art world with a bang. Technically described as a balance between form and mechanics, Steampunk art utilizes items such as polished brass, gears, iron, wood, and leather all things that may have been prevalent during the late Victorian period into the beginning of the Industrial age when steam was the main source of power. A mix of past technology and futuristic patterns makeup the basis for Steampunk styles. As there is no one specific idea that is all this art form can be – we as egg artist can make it into anything we want! This class gives you a chance to have a small taste of one of the many versions of Steampunk art available to explore. You will be coloring a duck egg using ink, and then carefully constructing your decorations using vintage watch gears, chain and other pieces and parts to give you a “steampunk” look. In addition you will be shown how to create a bottom and top that allows your egg to spin while hanging. One egg will be supplied in class – however your kit will include enough parts to create several ornaments. You are welcome to bring additional eggs into class to color.
