he NeighborhoodsJamaica Plain and Roxbury are both residential neighborhoods of Boston. This means that people tend to live

these areas for decades at a time. As the city continues to grow, Egleston Square is a strategic location for a nchurch presence. Roxbury and Jamaica plain span about six miles in the geographic center of the city, but the

is a clear demographic division in the makeup of the neighborhoods.

    Multi-Ethnic

    Neighborhood

    Focused

Christ calls us to love our neighbor, and in a city as diverse as Boston that

means building friendships and sharing life with people from a variety of

races, cultures, ethnic groups, and socio-economic classes. We believe if the

church is carrying out its calling then it will reect the make-up of the sur-

rounding neighborhood. In order to achieve diversity, The Egleston Square

Project will intentionally strive for diversity in the initial core group and lead-ership of the church.

Of all the facts about Boston, this might be the most amazing: there is no Wal-ma

in Boston. Boston was founded in 1630, and although life has changed dramatica

since then, the provincial layout of the city still shapes daily life. People are more

likely to walk to a corner store than drive to a mega-retailer. We believe the most

effective church in Boston will be the church that understands the dynamics of theneighborhoods and becomes a part of the fabric of the community.

PrayerPrayer is our greatest need in ministry. We are looking for people who will commto intercede regularly on our behalf for our marriage, family, church, and city. Wetake prayer partnership very seriously because only God can extend his kingdom.Tose who support us in prayer will receive bi-montly e-mail updates as well as occasional urgent requests for prayer.

The rst two years will require the highest amount of outside giving in order to

sustain the church. This amount of outside giving decreases over 5 years until

    church is fully self-supporting.
