Where do we come from?

- Education remains one of the strongholds of EHA’s activities.

- In the past five years:

- consolidated major achievements and continued to strive for lifelong learning in hematology

- by offering peer-reviewed, high quality and unbiased educational tools in various formats

- suitable for different target groups

- with the European Hematology Curriculum as the backbone of this program.

‒ Being part of EHA community is very important for all members.

• Members mainly involved in research more likely become members for discountson the annual congress fees.

• Members involved in clinical practice are mainly motivated for access in EHALearning Center.

‒ Members see EHA’s main purpose as providing education, followed by theorganization of congresses and meetings

EHA’s vision on Learning

EHA should be the home base of continuous medical education for a broad audience of hematology professionals. EHA’s medical education program should be engaging and motivate the learners to become part of the EHA Community. EHA’s medical education program should be open to less resourced countries by offering education based on their needs.

Page 9: EHA [s Education & Outreach Program 2019-2021 · 2019-02-18 · strategy into a strategy on education including developing tactics and tools -> presented at the October 2018 Board

Education | Tactics

We will reach this by:

- Having an excellent online learning program as the basis for all EHA Education:

- offering high quality content on a wide variety of topics, with a comprehensive program as a basis

- matching different learning styles (online, offline, combination (blended))

- Serving clinicians and researchers

- Offering an interesting program of in-depth meetings (through SGWs)

- Strive for harmonization in hematology education by:

- Updating & promoting the EHA Hematology Curriculum

- Organizing & promoting a European Hematology Exam

- Serving different target groups and less resourced countries (outreach)

- Strong and continuous promotion

- Main session: Amsterdam, June 14, during EHA24

- Parallel session: Bern, Switzerland, June 14

To provide access to all those interested in obtaining the extra quality stamp, EHA invited all European national societies to organize a local parallel session. 8 countries interested so far.

Challenge of organization by National Societies: more difficult to create ‘hubs’.

Exam 2019

Exam 2020 and beyond

Expand question database to be prepared for:

- Progress test on EHA Campus

- Exam 2 times a year (2nd time with parallel sessions in various regions)

Additional investment needed for support and review of all questions:

Next steps Education Committee

‒ Define how we measure success

‒ Fine tune investment plan and calculate yearly returning costs

‒ Discuss and decide on reporting within the Edu team and towards the

EHA Board

Question to the EHA Board:
